Default 06 GPW S2K

Brand new to this forum for a few weeks now, still trying to get a hang of the site. Just picked up a 06 GPW S2K with less than 32k miles. Going to be a project car and to my luck, previous owner did some custom exhaust which sounds great and luckily saved me some tall cash! This all means...MORE MODS FOR ME! Anyways, can any new owners who already upgraded intake give me some opinions on what you installed and how it sounds after? I'm deciding on probably the most popular ones by AEM V2, K&N FIPK, or Injen. Shooting for K&N but if others say their yays or nays, I hope to pick the best one!

Thanks S2K'ers

Welocme! I have a K&N and love it! Do you get a lot of rain? If so you may be wary of a true CAI b/c of the possibility of hydrolock.

Thanks for the reply. I live in IL and S2K is my weekend project car, so it will only be out on decent days. You have the FIPK? I saw youtube vids on the K&N on the AP2 and love the deep growl. How is yours?Does it have a low growling deep tone to it? And does it give a bit of added performance/hp?

I want to be certain this is the one to get. Don't want to get something then spend more money getting something else if you know what I mean, I want to get it for certain and move on to the next mod! Btw, does it come in a variety of finishes? Or is it just the K&N cone with black?

Welcome and congrats. personally for a project car I would buy one with higher mileage and use the money i saved for modding. I wouldn't touch that one you got with 32k miles lol.

Yes, my (all) FIPK growls! It definitely makes a difference power wise, not so noticeable during everyday driving, but once you hit vtec ! When my friend and I were both stock I could pull on his CR once I hit vtec; below vtec we were even.

Unfortunately it only comes in black, although I think the sleeve that connects to the engine has come in either orange or black (mine is orange).

Thanks for the info. With a big company with K&N, more variety should be in order! But I guess you work with what you have. Ya, I need to put in at least an intake and after that, some under the hood accessories. I don't want to do too much under the hood due to the low mileage and so testing things out, I don't want to do just yet.

Yea, I know what you mean! I want to be able to enjoy the car's low mileage and just cruise in it and just blast the speakers when the top is down. Hopefully when spring comes around again, more night cruising and pump up some "HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG!"
