Default 06' owners weigh in on VSA and DBW.

I did a search already and didn't net any results that really answered what I am asking here.

I passed on the 06' and bought a new 05' two months ago for the sole reasons of VSA and DBW. My wife's TSX has them and I absolutely despise the electronic throttle in that thing. After having driven a competitive SCCA spec Civic for 9 years, the disconnected feeling of the elec throttle drove me nuts.

So my question here is, how are you 06 owners doing with the throttle and does it ever bother you? What about the VSA?

Edit:// Sorry just realized I posted this in the wrong forum. Can a mod help an idiot like me and move it to where it should be please?

I specifically tested the DBW pretty extensively on a test-drive to ensure it wasnt numb like the other cars I had driven with it.(G35, Accord) I plan on participating in 4-5 track weekends a year as well as stock class autoxing at a National level, so I was quite particular about the feel of the car. I will say it is by far the best DBW I have ever tested. The pedal has the proper resisitance, and you can still feel the vibration of the motor in the pedal, which I found was the biggest issue with the other cars I had driven with it. I was quite impressed and feel there is little if any lost by having the system.

The VSA lets the car get a bit sideways before kicking in - but it will not let you carry a slide for very long before it pulls in the reins. That said, its pretty easy to just push the "VSA Off" button and play to your hearts content, so its pretty much a non-issue.

the DBW is very nice.. when I first got the car, I couldn't shift smoothly because as soon as I gased, the car would lurch forward a bit.. there was no play in the throttle cable that I was expecting. downshifting is so much easier in my s than in my previous car (celica gts).. no g force at all even downshifting into 1st.

TRAKATAK, would you like me to move this thread? This seems like a good place for this discussion...

Yes, I don't think I've heard any negative feedback around the board yet. We were all hoping, of course, that Honda wouldn't soften the S2000 or mess with it's throttle response. Looks like they did a good job.

Yeah, and I was sceptical too. I have read many questionable thing about DBW's response and feel on other cars.

I was hoping since the NSX was sorta the DBW pioneer and the S2K comes from the same factory that produces them.....it would transfer to the S2k with no problems.

I have only driven it about 1,000 miles but all is good sofar.

To the MOD: I just figured this should have been in discussion or something. But it seems as though it would work here. So leave it I guess.

I am wondering just how much you can turn off the VSA on the S2K as well. On my wife's TSX, it is never truly all the way off. I was trying to leave my house when we had some snow about 3 weeks ago and even though I had the VSA off, the throttle was pinned, and the ECU would cut the RPMs at about 3 grand, if I remember correctly. So is it the same kind of 'still on when off' thing in the S2K or not?

OK, TRAK.

Good question. I don't know if "off" really means "off".

"VSA" is really "VSA with Traction Control" on both the TSX and S2K according to their specifications.

So, from TRAK's experience, VSA off does not turn off the traction control ???

On the Mazda RX-8, you turn off VSA by pressing the button...and you can turn off the traction control by holding the button for a few seconds. Same thing on the S2K?
