06' owners weigh in on VSA and DBW.

To the MOD: I just figured this should have been in discussion or something. But it seems as though it would work here. So leave it I guess.
I am wondering just how much you can turn off the VSA on the S2K as well. On my wife's TSX, it is never truly all the way off. I was trying to leave my house when we had some snow about 3 weeks ago and even though I had the VSA off, the throttle was pinned, and the ECU would cut the RPMs at about 3 grand, if I remember correctly. So is it the same kind of 'still on when off' thing in the S2K or not?

I just traded in a 2004 M3 Cabrio, and my other car is a 01 M Coupe. Both are DBW and I always considered their implementation to be quite good. I have to say that the S2000's is even better. Honestly even the most experienced driver would probably not notice it was DBW unless you told them.
Also, the VSA is great in the wet. I'm suprised with how easily the s2000 breaks traction.. perhaps its because the tires are new, but I'm glad I've got it in slippery conditions. It's also fun that it lets you get the car a little sideways before kicking in. The BMW system kicks in much more aggressively and prevents any kind of fun at all untill you turn it off. Regardless, you can turn it off at will so it certainly doesnt hurt anything.
Anyway - I like 'em both.

We traded in an '05 for our '06. One drive (along with the new Laguna Blue) was all it took to convince us that Honda did their homework on the DBW (etc).

I went back and forth about 10 times between the 05 and 06. I could get a new 05 for about 1500 less than the 06. I went with the 06 and I could not be more happy with the car. ENJOY!
I must admit, I went with the money saver... I bought the 06 Si. NO COMPARISON to the S, but for 20K??? I am effin' loving it... what an engine. If the S ever gets I-VTEC we will be in for an even more improved treat...
Yes, I don't think I've heard any negative feedback around the board yet. We were all hoping, of course, that Honda wouldn't soften the S2000 or mess with it's throttle response. Looks like they did a good job.
well here's some negative feedback
after waiting four months to replace my 02 spa that was drowned in katrina i just took delivery on an 06 laguna blue. took it on a short run yesterday and it ran fine. this morning on my way to work i could'nt get it over 3k rpm. i looked at the dash and the both vsa lights were on as well as the malfunction indicator. i hadn't done the research on vsa but pulled over and turned the car off. i restarted it and the vsa lights went off but the malfunction light stayed on.
15 miles and to the shop it goes. first time in five hondas i've ever had to have anything but planned maintenance.
