Default 2002 S2000, so how did I do?

Hi,
Picked up this 2002 Sebring Silver from a Honda dealership up in Connecticut for $14,200 with 55K miles. New brakes and tires and roof appears new as well as there is no wear or fading whatsoever. Clean car fax and only some minor cosmetic blemishes like stone chips on hood and some bumper marks which seem inevitable. I may get those resprayed down the road, but overall, the car looks great.

Only one owner who were a professional 50+ year old "well to do" couple from Norwalk who maintained it at Honda dealership in Westport Ct. This was important for me because I know how many of you young fellas like modifying these car and abusing the #$#$ out of them. I'm in my early 40s and always wanted this car. Now that I have a home, a garage and another primary car, I figured I'd pick pay cash for one of these and drive it on nice days.

Price seemed fair but can 2002 with 50k miles be found that much cheaper? I couldn't find too many in the Northeast/NYC area. Things are more expensive around here including used cars.

Wow, from the looks of it, you did great! I live in Oregon and I bought a 2002 Sebring Silver with 43k miles for $14,000, and that was from a private seller... I think you got an amazing deal for your S for 14k and some change with only 55k miles on it!

On a side note, you might want to read up on the Rear Axle Nut TSB. It's a quick fix from the factory settings, I did mine today in about 3 minutes.

Take good care of her! You won't regret that buy!

Hi, and thanks. You got a good deal. My gut is telling me that as these become harder and harder to find, they will stabilize in depreciation or go up in value. I was always a 1993-1995 Mazda RX7 fan which are more rare than the S2k and they have gone up in value from their lowest depreciation. They only sold about 13000 of these from 2006-2009. Factor in a lot of S2ks that are abused to death by the young guys or crashed and these will become more rare.

Doing research on S2k in my area, Carfax reports were showing 3, 4 up to 7 owners on them. One owner was not that common so I hope I chose a good one.

So, I thought I'd better snag one now rather than in a few years. Anything Honda under 60,000 is just getting broken in
It is nice to not have car payments on this or any of my cars. I am not planning any modifications, I like it as it was produced. I may respray the front bumper and hood down the road but the reason why I love silver cars is that they "age" well normal chips and minor dings blend well.

I paid $10.7k for an 02 Suzuka with 48,000 miles. The condition was good, its just a wax, detail, and touchup away from GREAT. I'm happy with my purchase. I did however buy another soft top as I can't stand the look of the tear!
