Yes, AP1 designation was used throughout the world with the AP2 body parts as the car retained the F20C engine.

Where are you located? I'm pretty sure the suspension was the same year to year around the world. Meaning, a European AP1 2005 has the same suspension as a North American AP2 2005.

*Edit: Just saw you said KSA, but you know how us ignorant American jackasses are So where are you from? Saudi Arabia?*

In 2004, everything changed to AP2 chassis worldwide, the only thing is the F20C engines that were stuffed into AP2 cars for another couple years outside the North American market.

Every AP2 has the AP2 suspension, trans, gearing, body, interior etc. except for the select AP2s sold outside NA with the F20C engine and corresponding IP with the 9k redline.

In 2004, Honda revised the S2000 globally with new suspension, interior, exterior, etc.

Some markets (i.e. US and Canada) also received a revised engine from 2.0L to 2.2L as well as gearing. With that, Honda labeled those 2.2L cars AP2.

Anyway, so there are 2004 AP1s around the world. For example, in Japan, you would have a US-market (USDM) AP2 S2000 with an F20c engine and AP1 gearing. That car will be called 2004 AP1. Everything else is the same. That car has the stronger synchros, revised subframe, clutch-delay-valve, new suspension etc.

Just to mess things up even more, some countries label their model-years differently. For example, even though S2000 was introduced as a 2000 year model, some countries will label it as a 1999 year model if the car was produced (or imported) in 1999. That means it is "theoretically" possible to have an 2003 AP2. But as far as I know, that didn't happen; countries with that model-year scheme did not receive the AP2 when it was first introduced to US. I suppose you could have a 2003 AP1 with all the revised suspension and interior from the factory.

In any case, I was in the same shoe as you were, because I have a 2004 JDM AP1 myself. Got a little confused as to what is what in the beginning, when I moved from an USDM AP2 to an JDM AP1.
