it hasn't been stressed enough yet. Get an insurance quote first. At 19, you're in for a rude awakening. I'm guessing 300% higher than your civic.

Other than that you seem to be in the clear. Just sell your civic to a private party. Don't trade it to a dealer.

Best of luck with your purchase

As a comparison:

I am 21, make $23/hr, (gross income $2760 since I work 30hr/wk w/ college), have a credit rating of 710, over two years history in my credit report.

I was completely and utterly denied out right for any kind of financing from Capital One and their partner that they automatically send you to if they deny you.

I basically cannot get an S2k without a cosigner, period. No fun

JDM Joe do you post on JDMC? I was just wondering.

Well anyway, I'm in the same boat as you but I'm not in a rush to sell my civic. I would love to keep it as my daily driver. However, once I get the S i'm afraid the S will be the daily driver. haha

My suggestion would be to just shop around and really know what you want in your S2k and also check for insurance rates like everyone here has mentioned.

I figured your sn looked familar.

I definitely know how you feel about the S.

I have seen a few deals for AP1s that range about 17k. Some are 00-02. Its very possible for you to get your hands on one.

I'm trying to get ahold of an AP2 myself. Right now I'm doing as much research as I can before I fork over my money.

That's really strange. Did they give any reason why? Credit score is good and you're earning A LOT of money considering you're still in school.

I'm 23, credit score of 725 or so (when I bought my car back in December, so it should have gone up since then), have had my current job for about 1.5 yrs and don't earn nearly enough ($13/hr). I put down $7k on my $20,000 car and also bought extended warranty. No problem getting a loan, interest rate of 7.5% I believe, paying under $300/month for 60 months. And full coverage insurance on the S2000, and bare minimum on my Ford Probe costs me under $100/month through Allstate.

Well I have a 99 Civic that KBBs for about $7,300 and has modifications that I could part out and make some cash back. My credit is 693 and I have a job that pays atleast $22,000 a year. What would be my best option or options to get my hands on a car and between what price range? I dont have a co-signer. I have been looking at some rides in the For Sale thread in S2KI and if possible I might get one from here.
1) That's a lot of personal information for the Internet.

2) If you are asking strangers online if you can afford a particular car, you probably need to be focusing elsewhere.

3) KBB is generally a little on the high side (of course it all depends on locations). Additionally, I've got a '98 Civic EX coupe in 'good' condition that KBBs for less than $4000 (of course it's got high mileage), so I'm wondering about the value you've got.

Best options??? Used! I just posted in a thread where someone was highlighting S2000 being sold in the low $10ks.

What in the heck are you doing for a job as a college student? I have a college degree and am waiting on the FAA to call me up for an air traffic control position. That is more than I will make in the next 5 years under the new system. To make matters worse my college degree isn't netting me any better offers.

Based on my experience, I would almost recommend you drop out now at that rate.

Driving around your bank account. That's a good idea.

I have 3 jobs, and the lowest paying one is around 16/hour cash. The others are around 25 an hour cash and I'm a studio art major

Gotta find a new career bro! jk... if you like what you do that's all that matters.

To betterTH, dude, go to your bank. Credit companies are not going to finance you unless you're 40+ years old and have a job where you're making 6 figures.

Go to your bank - banks work FOR YOU! If they won't give you a loan, tell them you're leaving and going to another bank to do your savings/checking and that will change their tune quickly.

I had a hard time finding a loan for my S (I only needed like 10k) and I finally went to my bank. The bank manager was cool as crap and he got my loan approved within 30 minutes. Seriously - dress nicely, show some type of proof of your income (if you make cash and don't claim anything like me for tax purposes, bring bank statements of all of your deposits), and act maturely. They want your money; they make interest off of you. Give it a try
