Am I able to get an S2k?
Well my reasons for wanting to own a S is this. Its sexy as hell and its a RWD honda. When in overtime I take home $24,000 a month but not on overtime I take home about $1,500. I owned my civic for 4 months and already blew 4 grand on it. If I dont get the S then I plan on an engine swap, turbo, rims, carbon fenders and front bumper, carbon trunk, seats, ect. I figured I would rather blow that money on an S cuz it will build my credit in the process. You say why spend all that money on a car when I do it already lol.
I am going to go to college very soon actually, but I figure not having bills other then cell phone and insurance I can afford both if I want.

Im definetly going to my bank to talk.
I work at a Michaels Arts and Crafts Distribution Center. It pays alright cuz Im making $12/hour and I see a raise every 3 months that roughly 30 cents. Plus we work atleast 40 hours a week sometime 60. I was a buss boy for my first job but didnt make much. I am trying to get an on base job or go to college.

im 19 gave 2,000 down paying 577 a month plus 300 for insurance so i pay 877.00 monthly.. 27,000 a year not including my tips i make everyday at work..its an 07 lease to own... it was cheaper to lease then to own right away..good luck
This isn't going to be popular, but how about just waiting? The S is the kind of car I wanted when I was 16, 18, 20,... but instead I waited until I was in my 30's, married, and in a career. I dreamed a lot, wished a lot, and then bought one when it was a minor part of my monthly expenses and not something that I had to scrape to be able to get. i am glad that I didn't have a car like this when I was 19 - there is no way I should have had something this fast then. That's why the insurace is so much then.
I have to say, put your money into education now, not a car that you can always buy in a few years. As someone else said, an engineering degree will let you start earning in the $50k region, and you'll understand the science behind the car you want. If you don't like math and basic science but can do it, suffer through! You have to be able to do the math, but it is nowhere as hard as you'd expect based on math classes. If you can't do the math/science, there are other majors that still get you into good jobs.
if you really don't like the school option, look at trades - electrician, plumber, carpenter,... You get to make something and see it work, which is cool. You also get paid pretty nicely for fun work.
Patience isn't fun in the short term, but it can pay off handsomely in the long run.

In terms of being able to get it, you can, I did with a lot less (bought mine used), find a motivated dealer or something and they will find some way to finance you. Now if it's a smart, economical decision, that's up to you, I'm still deciding as I drive with the top down.
Wow!! I see alot of INSANLY high insurance rates, I am 21 and pay 169.34$ monthly for full coverage through state farm......I got accepted on my loan by using my dad as a cosigner, the interest rate was gonna be something like 9or 10% w/o him, it is now 7%......
Man, when I was out of college I was making $26k/yr, living at home and could BARELY afford my Contour SE
. I don't understand how some of you guys can afford to live on your own, go to school AND afford an s2000 with income of ~$22k.
I see it to this day, ppl making the same money as me are buying $750k houses while I'm struggling to figure out how to make a $400k townhouse work.
Either you guys are in over your eyeballs in high interest credit, OR I'm doing something waaaaaay wrong.
To the OP, keep your Civic as is. Invest in your future by buying an education. Withing 4yrs you'll be in a better position. The s2000 maybe on your hotlist right now, but I'm sure that'll change once you own one and see the next hot thing out. It's a vicious cycle.
