Another proud S2000 owner
I recently bought my first S2000.
I've got my license since I'm 18 and've driven a lot of different cars since then. Ranging from VW T2 van to Audi A8L W12. This S2000 is the first car that I own, and I've been wanting one for a long long time.
I've seen some sick modifications on here already but my intention is to keep my S2000 as stock as possible. It's from 2000 and has done some 225.000km. It has received a new clutch, axle, differential and belt-change in 2012. Will bring it to a Honda dealer somewhere next month: I'm not very handy and want the dealer to check my car.
The only thing that is on my list for now is changing the softtop with a new one with the glass window. I want to do this because my current top is damaged, there is a little hole in it. There isn't any water coming through for now though.

Welcome and congrats. I just bought an '07 ten days ago and have learned a lot by reading all of the S2K forums (s2kca, s2000, s2ki and honda-tech) and join your local (or any if you don't have one) Facebook group for the car too. Stuart

After doing some 'research' I've found out that the S2000 doesn't like skipping gears, in particular the synchros seem to hate it. I don't know anything about engines, clutches or transmission, but it sounded like a serious problem. I wonder, does this also apply for downshifting? During drivinglessons I was taught to skip gears when downshifting.
If I drive 60km/h and approach a corner for which I have to slow down to 20km/h, I brake, and when the speed is +/- right, I shift from 4th to 2nd gear. Should I get through gear 3 in this situation aswell?
Also, my S2000 taught me to use matching revs quite quickly, just by how the car feals when shifting up. Matching revs while downshifting is something I'm not used to for now. Is it OK to skip gears if you always match your revs?
The above only applies for daily use, I'm not planning to get mine to a track any time soon. I've seen several topics about this, but I'm lacking knowledge to understand what is really said

Welcome,
Most owners advise that when shifting either up or down to at least put the shifter into the next gear even if you are planning on going up or down more than one gear. What I am trying to say is that if you are in 5th and want to shift to 3rd. Move shifter into 4th without letting the clutch out than move to 3rd. Use the same method going from 3rd to 5th.
