Default another soon to be S2000 owner ( Austin , Texas )

Hey guy's and girls ( if there are any here ) . I'm looking into purchasing a s2000 within the next month ( possibly sooner ), i have a couple questions before i pull the trigger . I intially was pretty set on purchasing a AP1 but i've read about a few issues with the car having weak vavle retainers , this is a similar issue that a few 95 M3 owners have warned me about , i have a build date 11/94 M3 and i've had no issues with the said valve retainers , maybe the last owner replaced them .. who knows. so i need to know if those are real issue . The s2000 will be a daily driver by the way , while my M3 sits here at my shop so i can figure out what direction i want to go with the car either keep the car N/a or go for a TRM Stage II turbo kit

I'm also considering AP2s , the reason is that i find the car a bit more visually apealing , despite it being the " softer " s2000 as i'm told . Anyway , give me your thoughts .

thanks !

p.s .. it may see an auto X or two

'Tis true but it really only causes a problem when the car is/has been mechanically over revved. I'm sure there are plenty of high-mileage AP1s out there with their original valve spring retainers that are doing just fine. Case in point:

^ Find one with a previous owner like that and I wouldn't worry about it. I wasn't sure about the previous owner of mine (plus I may have money-shifted it myself) so I went ahead and had them upgraded.

Right , well if that's the case i'll make sure to see if this particular Ap1 has been overeved . there is 01 Ap1 that has 68,000 miles on it and it's $12,000 , problem is there is no way of finding out if the previous owner(s) have over revved that car. There are few Ap2s that are in the price range i prefer , but they are somewhat high mileage .:/
