That to me qualifies as a stupidly good deal :-) New car dealer w/ a used lot, used car dealer, or private party?
Used car lot - there was another one right down the road, he wanted $14something for it -it was lowered, and had some non-factory rims on it, and was silverstone Metallic or black I believe - it was in Modesto California on Crows Landing Rd.

I'm not sure if you're in Cali or not... so that may not be of any help to you.

I live in Chicago, and this is not a good time of year for convertible sales....dealers are dumping them.

I got mine at Continental Honda in Countryside, IL. Found it on Cars.com.
I got mine there last year for $27500. They move so many cars they can let them go cheaper.

Umm, I had no problem getting one on my S2K. I have good credit, which obviously helps.
define good credit haha because i too have good credit but ive only had about 2yrs or so of history and i just started a new job so im not sure if a bank is gonna see that as stable/low risk.

Oh and about the ridiculous prices i guess they are not to be found in SoCal as much becuase when they are cheap they are simply that CHEAP huge flaws. EX: an 05 was being sold at an indipendent dealer for about 16k but the top was ripped and they neglected to state that it had tranny issues that the dealer had to fix multiple times and the shifter felt off. Ive driven a couple of AP1s and AP2s and that shifter felt softer rubbery if i may. Evil car sales people FTL! As soon as i noticed those things on that what seemed to be clean s2k my just like that...

I paid 20K for my '02 with 19,000 on it last year. but I bought it in convertable season. I could have got it a little lower but it was nicer then the new cars on the lot. Now it has 56K on it so i'll lose my ass when I trade it in for a newer one in a couple years. But it's paid off!!!

that dealership in modesto,ca on crowslanding (crowslanding auto center) is garbage. we pulled up in my GFs new 08 accord. guy gave us a price of 15,999 when he gave one of the guys above a 14K price. the car was abused. there was still junk in the secret compartment (including insuarnce card with previous owners address, contact info). car was beat, half assed system and wiring, ebay springs, painted wheels, broken lip, beat up paint, etc. when i mentioned about the lower price, salesmen got all defensive questioning who it was. "was it alex" they kept saying all rude and crap.

there are some good deals, but dealers are still trying to gouge their customers.

Shady dealers are unfortunately a staple regardless of the economy. I guess the dishonest and greedy have to get a job somewhere, and they don't all have the Ivy League degrees to work at AIG.

These aren't exactly exotics, the state of the economy will have very minimal impact on the resale value of these cars or new car purchase for that matter. I think it will vary more regionally and seasonly then from the state of the economy. I bought my 08 new in December(during a snow storm) for a few hundred under invoice with a very generous trade in, that deal wouldn't have existed in the south. There are good deals to be had, but I think it has less to do with the economy and more to do with the dealership and the circumstances involved with the transaction.
