Default Back from the dead

After years, and countless cars, I’m back with another S2000 as of yesterday. 2008 Chicane Silver S2000 w/ 14,000 miles on it! Looks to have lived in a garage it’s whole life and was only serviced at Honda dealers since day one.

So so excited to be back in an S. A little background:
i bought a 2008 S2000 with the factory installed body kit bits brand new in 2008. Drove it for 3.5 years. Sold it for a Raptor. Then bought two Vipers. Picked up a Shelby GT500 in 2014. A couple modded wranglers in there. Even a van-conversion. None of it brought a smile to my face the way the S did. NONE of them. I’m 38 and owned 19 enthusiast cars, and the S was continually the “one that got away” when people asked me what I missed. The only car i regretted selling..EVER. Didn’t even bat an eye after selling my 15’ Viper that was stunning. Well, today, no more regrets. I’m back in the S2000 gang with a stock, low-mileage 08! Happy to be here and relearn all the things I gotta know.

The lighting makes the paint look different colors, but it’s all original untouched. This thing is a time capsule. Everything is new inside and out on it!

Nice car. Welcome back. Hope you leave it stock and enjoy it as is. I have the 03 version of your car in Silverstone Mettalic. I bought it last year with 17,500 miles. I'm the second owner. I love my S.

Three months back I bought a one owner 07 with 17,800 miles, silverstone, a garage queen, never seen rain. Just added Ohlins and braided lines and seat covers to protect the seats.....no more mods...Silver was the only color for me. The little car feels like it was custom made for me....everything where it should be..

I am going to leave this unmolested example exactly the way it is, except for factory Honda parts like the spoiler in rear, side strakes, and front lip. I recently located a spoiler and strakes, but will be patient in finding a lip spoiler. No modifications for me. The engineers knew exactly what to do when they designed it, and who am I to change it?

Beautiful color! Great find.

Patience is a massive understatement regarding finding the OEM front and rear spoilers and side strakes. Many places list them in-stock but they're not. Chicane Silver parts were never common and even pedestrian Silverstone parts are long gone or being hoarded.

Stick a high flow cat in the system and FlashPro tune the VTEC down to 3600rpm. The increase in mid-range power will surprise, maybe astound you. Will still look stock but won't be as far as performance is concerned. All easily changed back come smog test time.

what will the high flow cat alone do for you???
and Flashpro??? with preset tune?? care to elaborate on that??

You have been gone for a while! or just got here!

The DBW cars can be tuned via Hondata FlashPro for significant mid range power and a bump at the top end. 221 HP at the rear wheels on a very conservative Mustang Dyno for my car. A 3600 VTEC requires a little less back pressure to get the fuel tables right and a high flow cat does this (as does a cat-delete). This is not canned tuning (although there are many available). The tuning can be done on a dyno at considerable expense or by a skilled tuner by capturing data with FlashPro, emailing the data, and getting back a suitable tune. FlashPro retains the stock tune (or close enough) to allow reversion for smog. Current thread on a CA "Referee" visit by a FlashPro tuned owner. He failed smog twice in the past couple of weeks but was able to revert to an acceptable tune with FlashPro. He's probably already got the high flow cat back on the car and his good tune in the ECU. Couple of hours every two years.

When my car was tuned I ran 3 x 7 custom diagnostic calibrations (21 runs) from 18 to 80 mph at WOT in 3d gear and sent the data. Got back 7 more diagnostic calibrations to repeat the process. * 3d time was the charm and I got back a final tune which has been on the car for close to 5 years (now that it's 2020). My car pushing thru the air (not stationary on a dyno), my fuel, my weight in the car, etc. Just had to find a road to run 21 full power runs without disturbing the neighbors.

* None of the calibrations were suitable for driving, just diagnostic testing. 3d gear matches the tach closely. 80 mph is just about 8000 rpm.

apparently when you don’t post for 7 years, all your post count resets. I used to post on here often.
