the intrinsic value of an S will far outweigh what you pay for it, trust me

absolutly! i wouldnt trade my baby for the world. driving this car is an experience in itself, and along with that it has also brought about many experiences and friends that i wouldve never had/met if i wouldve never bought it.

If you were in a new 07 S in a foreign market (Middle East, Japan?, Europe) then that's why you have the 9K redline.

My 07 is a AP2 with the original 2.0L motor (9K redline) whereas the North American market AP2 has the 2.2L motor.

I believe the AP1 NA market cars are 2.0L and made between 2000 and 2003. In 2004 the NA market moved to the 2.2L motor (8K redline)...I believe?

Anyone help to clarify if I was incorrect.

Again I'm not too sure but the emissions issue is a factor in the North American market and Honda decided to give the car more low end torque.

I know for a fact the ME market doesn't have the same emissions controls and hence we have the 2.0L motor. Our cars don't have cruise control either.

I do believe the AP2 models received a beefed up rear differential as well after the 2004 model year.

Hope I've helped and again someone can correct me if I'm mistaken

Very few Americans know how to drive a car that makes most of it's power at high revs, so Honda got a lot of complaints about the S2000's power delivery. In response to the complaints they upped the displacement, lowered the rev limit, and made other changes in an effort to better satisify typical American customers.

Both the F20C and F22C for the US market meet the worlds most stringent emissions requirements.

The entire world got the AP2 from the beginning, but the F22 was originally available only in the US .
In the US we're more addicted to torque than most of the rest of the world.

EDIT: The F22C also comes with a heavier flywheel, which stores more energy and makes it easier to launch the car. Made to order for typical US driving styles.

I was wondering when threads like this would start again. Things have been too peaceful lately. With the intro of the CR, the majority of the community was able to unify its contempt toward a single, new cause, but now that it's blown over I see we are back to our old shenanigans....
Pretty worthless bit of information... What makes my MY06 watered down? What makes it the most "daily driver friendly"? If by watered down you mean more powerful, and by daily driver friendly you mean increased driveability and access to power across the band, then yes, it is.
As a person who has owned MY02 and MY06, I can say that the car has not changed enough to be called "watered down". The car is still quick, nimble, rev-able, light and extremely fun. AP1s are great cars, but I would take MY06 in a heartbeat over AP1. They are not that different... the soul and feel is still there. AP2s are improved and refined over AP1s. Regardless of what beliefs you may hold and whatever you tell yourself- this is true. And please, please accuse me of being overly sensitive.
