The car feels the same. I think the DBW makes the power delivery much smoother. VTEC feels the same only thing I've noticed is the intake sounds a little different. VSA can be turned off. and you can behave badly once it's off. An no, I didn't do this in a customer's vehicle if any of you are wondering. Everyone's fussing about the DBW and the VSA. Minor changes in comparison to what honda did on the interior. The seats, roll bar speakers, the ext. temp. gauge, the steering wheel, the "glovebox" where it's supposed to be.

I am not sure how it was in other parts of the country, but in San Diego S2000s were selling at a premium. When the S2000 first came out, the public was told that it would be a two-year production car, with about 5000 cars produced a year. This is why people paid so much for the MY00-01s. The dealership I worked at sold each and every MY00 for $7500 over MSRP. Another dealership in town sold them for $10,000!
When I purchased the S in '00 I paid $40k for it and was told that I could drive it to California and still sell it for more than MSRP. Yeah, Cali is where the money and the hype is at.
My question to you, an ex-Honda salesman, is did you guys know that there were more than 5000 produced a year and that the car was probably going to be made for more than 2 years? Did you guys know that you were lying about that to your customers?

Back then (2000) we weren't lying to our customers. Honda told us that the S2000 would only be manufactured for 2 years, and only 5K would be made per year.

Interesting. I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about that. Most people assume it was the dealers who were spreading a lie in order to jack the price up. I guess not.

Not the dealership I worked at. Can't speak for the others.

Well, SBM, if that's what Honda told your dealership, then so be it.
In any case, of course, it doesn't make any difference now. Folks that overpaid for MY00 cars were thrilled to have them anyway. Going into it's 7th year of production, I suspect we're talking well over 100,000 S2000s world-wide at this point. US is some 40% of that, though some fair percentage of them have been destroyed over time.
