Default Buying an 08 S2000

Hey guys, I'm a long time reader, first time poster. I currently own a 2005 GPW but i'm looking to get an 08 at the end of this year. Any suggestions from anybody? What kind of prices should i shoot for in september-november? Furthermore, are there any dealerships that you would reccomend? I'm in Texas but will travel to close by states if needed.

Sorry to sound like a noob, but I want to properly plan so that I can get the best possible deal when i go to buy in september-november. Thanks guys

Also, a friend of mine were having this argument earlier...he was saying that 'invoice' price is what the dealer actually pays for the car. I argued that the actual cost to the dealership is much less. What you guys think?

I think I should be able to get a 08 for right around $28 or maybe a little less...

yes----if you wait til Oct/Nov or later to pick one up----I got my 05 new in Oct 05 for $27,800 with a clear bra installed and 9 people just bought new 07s over the past few weeks from Immeke Honda in Columbus for $26,500 (including a good friend of mine who I told about the deal--he got a new silverstone). (these prices are not including sales taxes--none in Ohio if you title the car in another state--you'd just owe whatever taxes would be due in your state)
Waiting until late fall/winter will get you the best deals....

I have an 07 new left over for 26900.00. Go to Edmunds.com, kbb.com and look up the invoice, its public info these days, not rocket science. Email 3 of your local dealers internet department, buy it, then enjoy...

Deal with them on the last day of the month. They work on a monthly total cars sold bonus. On the last day of the month they will do a deal without a profit to get another car sold.

Thats not 100% correct... yeah, I believe thats what they pay for the car, but they get kickbacks (a certain amount of money from Honda everytime they sell a car) which is usually a few hundred dollars, so if they were to sell you a car at Invoice, they would still be making money...

They also usually have a Dealer Doc or Prep fee (bs) that they will charge you just to make an extra $300-500.

Also, if you go through the dealership for financing, they will usually charge you a higher APR than what the bank is actually giving you the loan for... For example, if a bank says they will do the loan at 6.9% dealerships can tell you that they got a loan for 8.9% and keep the rest of the money.

On top of that, at the end of the month, Honda will sometimes send the dealership additional amounts of money (additional kickbacks) for each car of certain models... For example, if Honda is having a hard time selling S2000s, Honda may come out and tell the dealership "for each S2000 you sell this month, we will give you an additional $1500. None of this is ever told to you however...

Finally, there are quotas and goals... I used to work at a Mazda dealership, and if we sold a certain number of cars in a month, Mazda would toss the dealership an additional $50,000... So, at the end of the month, if we were a bit shy of the goals, our manager would do almost anything he could do to get people to buy that day...

So, take all of this into account when making your purchase and your methods of financing
