Buying high milage s2000 (2000-2001 models)
There's an S2000 in the for sale section in Kansas for $12.9K. It looks like it's got a clean title. Someone today offered me an 01 that's going to need a motor (not blown yet) for $12K.
Some of you may have unrealistic expectations for what an old '2k's worth these days.
As for a salvaged car, it depends on why it was salvaged. Theft salvage may have no real damage, just missing parts. I'd have to think real hard about buying a savalged S2K caused by accident damage and the price would have to be 25% off the going rate. Salvage titled cars are permanently tainted.

cuz its gonna be kept as a race car..
i just traded my Z for a bmw 330xi sedan for winter reasons
and i want a real speced out race car when spring comes so i can go tear up the course
Someone put their 2000 S2000 w/ over 100,000 miles for 13,000 w/ OEM HT and it sold. Granted that HT's go for maybe 1.5-2.5k, you can easily assume that finding a S2000, even a 7 year old model for 10,000 is nearly impossible.
As far as salvaged titles, I would stay far away from it due to insurance reasons. Some insurers deny salvaged cars, while some insurers charge a hefty premium.

I can't imagine a car salvaged due to severe body damage would be an ideal race car. You would never know if the body shop doing the repairs cut corners or not while fixing the car.
I wouldn't want to race a car that had the chassis pieced back together. Just my opinion though...

Why buy insurance for a race car? It's not like they're going to cover that rear quarter panel that got messed up spinning into a tire wall. Actually, I think there are some companies out there that offer track coverage...but few.
Just a thought!
