I bought the Alpine CDE-102 HU. Looks pretty promising. Im not a big audio know-it-all so this stuff is kind of new to me. The HU was about $150 new but it was an open box so I got it for $130. The damn harness was $22, what a rip off. They said I dont need a fitting kit, so hopefully they are right for once, because the people that work at Best Buy are kind of dense. The guy asked me what kinda car I had and I said a 2005 S2000....and he said "what make is that...? Chevy?"

Pictures of headunit will be uploaded to first post soon, and then if all goes well pictures of it in the car will come next. Stay tuned!

Does anyone know if I have to remove any of the dashboard to get the stock HU out?

Quick reply would be great!

You'll probably get a quicker response if you post your question in the electronics forum.

Yeah pretty easy to do yourself. I had a fellow s2ki member install my Alpine head unit because I was uncertain as well. 5 minutes later it was in and I was embarrassed for wasted their time.

By the way, great decision on getting the Alpine Head Unit over the lights. A great investment. And might I add you should look into the Modfry adapter so that your dashboard controls are still usable. It is compatible with Alpines.
