Checkin in, new LA owner
Hi!
Introducing myself and my new(-to-me) S2000. 2007 GPW, red/black interior. After spending what feels like an eternity searching for a sports car that fit all my requirements, I've finally got one. Everything else was either too slow (Miata), too heavy (350Z), or too expensive (everything else I wanted). The S has a great mix of qualities: good power, superb handling, looks great, and can be tame enough to drive on a regular basis.
I've also got a Civic as a DD, but it's going to be hard not to pick up the keys to the "fast Honda" in the morning. I've never classed myself as a Honda or Japanese fanboy, but here I find myself with two Hondas, so they certainly must be doing something right.
After having the car for just under 48 hours, I'm very impressed. It's very nice to just cruise around at low RPM, and a stab of the pedal even at 3-4k RPM is enough to get it up and going. The transmission deserves all the rave reviews it has gotten, I find myself switching cogs all the time because it's so much fun. And then when you find a spot to give it some stick, the VTEC range both sounds and feels wonderful. I'm having to actively force myself not to shift at 5k because everything else I've driven runs out of juice there. Now in this cars there's still three thousand revs to go, and the most fun of the bunch at that. The controls are also fantastic, everything just within a fingers touch. Too bad the radio is as shit as everyone says!
So yeah, in short, she's stellar, I'm glad I took the time to find one I'm happy with.
Looking forward to hanging out with some other SoCal owners at a meet soon hopefully.
PS: Any former FSAE folks here? I have a feeling an engineering wonder like the S2000 has to have attracted some other former members.

Hmm, can't upload pictures as per normal. You have to be a paid member to do so?
Either way, here's a shot taken with crappy phone camera.
