i own both. The s2000 is way more fun to drive and puts a smile on your face when you really let it out. That being said, i use the Z alot more often as i feel its a much better daily driver (more comfortable, girls dont complain that its too small, and i feel safer in it). I actually love both cars, each have their high point and low points. In the end, i say test drive both and see which you like.

Either one would be a fun car to have. You should test drive both a couple times and go from there.

The newer Zs are actually a tad quicker. Nissan kept bumping out the horsepower output from time to time. I believe it started off with 280, and it's currenty making 306 at the crank.
They started at 287 and yes, they're making just over 300 now. But to my understanding the Track version runs mid-14's stock. An S2K can do better than that.

Ohh ... I was always under the impression that the 287 model is around 13.7, and the 300hp runs another 0.1 - 0.2 second quicker hehe (magazine times of course ... most drivers probably won't be able to get there)

I struggled with this same decision. Here's the solution:

Drive a 350Z first

Drive an s2000 second

(Because you'll be taking the s2000 with you )

I owned an '03 350Z Track prior to my '05 S2000. I definitely prefer the S2000. If you can live with the fact that the S2000 won't be as practical as the Z, then get the S2000.

Get the S2000. Why? 9,000 RPM's!

The cars are both very good - you will not be flamed getting either one but consider this

1. There will be fewer S2000's in the US than 350z's. buy an "S" and you will be part of a rare group of owners.

2. August 2003 - Car & Driver comparo - the Honda "S" beat the 350Z (which came in second) (also compared - Boxster, BMW Z3 & Audi TT).

3. "S" ownership and $20 makes you a serious member of this club - and that IS a major reason to buy the Honda. No club is like this bunch!

Buy the Honda - feel the

Test drive both and then ask yourself one of the most important and hardest questions you will ever have to answer...

... ap1? or ap2?

Everything I've read says the 350Z is 53/47 and the S2000 is 49/51. Thats a pretty significant difference. Combine that with the fact that the Z is nearly as heavy as a Chevrolet Camaro (pig), and its obvious why the Z and S feel so different to drive.

Something else to consider is Nissan quality/reputation vs Honda quality/reputation...

Also, if I personally were in the market for a Z, the only model I would be looking at is the "Track" model, which I think is rare... a lot of them you will find are the other "Touring" or "Grand Touring" models or whatever that are aimed at those who want a luxory-like sports car. To each their own, tho. Good luck
