I would consider purchasing one as a collectible, The car has really grown on me.

Well the Type S (CR in Japan) was like 2 seconds faster around I believe Suzuka than the normal S. That might not sound like much to some, but for those that know anything about tracking, that is quite a shave on time. I think the price is really worth it. The hardtop alone costs $3000 if one were to pick one up later for their normal model. The weight savings (albeit not huge) and sussy settings are worth it. Honda spent quite a bit of time getting the aero down on it and didn't just slap some pieces on a normal S and call it a day. Definitely an improved model and for just about $3000 more than a normal S is to me quite a steal.

I was looking at getting one here in Guam, but it would of cost me like $45000 and they didn't even know if they could actually get one. Also looked at getting one from the US and just shipping it myself, but that would of also tacked on like $5000. So I ended up grabbing the 07 they had on the lot, they wanted $42000 for it and got it for $35000.

I would get the CR over the normal S. Honda has foulups in the past but they actually did their hw on this version and the hardtop price itself makes this a steal. albeit on a nice day you take the hard top off to go to the mall you have to get out fairly quick. lol

But yeah on top of the hard top i'm all for the aero, stiffer suspension, and quicker ratios. lol but what do i know... I own an Evo. (i have all that minus the S = for style )

i've decided to go with the base s2k as i really want a convertible. my friend who works at honda was able to get me a possible lease price of $475 a month for 36 months with no money down. is that a good deal?

from what i calculated it seems to be a great deal but what do you guys think? what is the average price people are paying monthly on leases?
the dealer i was at had the cr at 287$/mo for 3 year.

just go for the cr. i like mine. to enthralled.

Which is interesting cause the TypeS is nothing but a watered down CR. Has the soft top, softer suspension and doesn't have the bracing like the CR. It also comes with RE050's. It's possible they tested the CR on the Suzuka track against the base S2000.

Hmmmm, maybe so, but I am pretty sure it was the Type S. Just looked at Honda's Japan website and indeed the TypeS is not to the CRs specs any longer. I knew the hardtop was an option for it, originally it was shown coming with just the hard fiberglass cover, 225 and 255 width stickier tires and being lighter. Wonder when this changed up, because just a few months ago before I left Japan, it wasn't showing it spec'd the way it is now. It's even heavier than a normal S by 22lbs. Interesting, the US actually gets a hot model over Japan.

With that being said, maybe the reading I did was about a prototype S, because I specificially remember it being a right-hand drive model and not the CR and they talked to, damn can't remember his name, the original designer of the car and what was done to elevate the S a step up over the original.

If I were to buy the S2000 all over again, I'd definitely get the CR.

well i really wanted to get a limited edition s2k, that's why i was looking at the CR.

after much thought, i've decided to purchase a used s2k so i would actually own it instead of lease it.

going back to the limited edition part, i found a 2002 s2000 in grand prix white with full red interior. my friend told me that there were only 700 made with this color combo (he works at honda). i plan on picking up the car this weekend.

what do you guys think? good move?
