engine life and overall s2k new owner info
scratch that. does any one know of anyone selling a nice s2k in the oregon/ washington area? i tried sifting through the classifieds, their all on the east coast lol.
Wow……
First, tampering with an odometer is illegal.
Second, if you are that concerned about the engine, why buy it? Do you have reason to believe problems may be looming? 100k is nothing for a well maintained Honda engine.
Give yourself some peace of mind; have it looked over by a competent mechanic. Make sure they do a compression and leak down test. These will give you a good idea about the health of the engine.
As far as knowing what to look for; read, read, read! This forum in an invaluable resource. When I test drove me s2k, I felt confident that I knew enough about the car to make a good judgment.

Thanks. i appreciate the help. the only reason i asked about the reset is because i have an 06 hummer h1. the dealership did a rebuild on my engine and transmission about 6 months ago. after they did the rebuild they slapped a sticker on my door saying that the motor had 65k on it, they did a rebuild and that they reset it back to zero.
i was wondering if anyone else had heard of anything like this? or if i could do this at my honda dealership?
a 100k odometer bothers me, but not enough to pull a cluster swap. but i intend on rebuilding the engine anyhow to handle more power. id like to turbo it, maybe supercharge it.
I'm still just thinking about my options.
any advice on the best year of s2k to build? id also like to make it my dd. give the h1 a break.

Really, 100k is nothing in the life of a Honda (assuming it has been maintained). As a former Chevy owner (I was raised on GM; my grandmother ran a small Chevy dealership); a Honda has yet to break a sweat when others are wearing out. My Silverado was a rattle trap at 60k (and was plagued with cooling system issues). My wife’s ’97 CR-V has 170k and we are taking it on vacation soon with no worries.
