Evening all, new member looking for an S2000.
Good evening,
I'm Jason and I'm from Scotland. I have recently sold my Triumph street triple R and I'm actively looking for an S2000 after loads of research into FR sports cars. I have a few quick questions if some knowledgable people could kindly answer before I delve back in to the forums to soak up as much information as possible:
I am interested in two cars at the moment;
1) Car #1 is 15 miles from my house, MY03, Silverstone grey, 56k miles, but is UK CAT D insurance write off (light damage, no chassis damage) I have done an initial inspection on the car and it looks as though it has had a front end impact. There is bondo on the seams in front of the strut towers and some metal has been knocked back into shape. The front right headlight also sits 10cm back from the front bumper and is quite cloudy. There is no damage to the front chassis rails / strut towers from what I can see. Asking price £4500 GBP. No rust anywhere.
2) Car #2 is 100 miles away, MY03, yellow, 117k, clean title, 18" wheels, I haven't seen this car yet and the asking price is £5200 GBP. It does has some small paint problems what ever they are.
So my personal preference is Silverstone grey but I'm worried if I buy car #1 and strip down the front end for inspection I'll find a bent chassis and good for the scrap yard. Sorry I don't have any pictures (wish I had). I know this May be a pointless exercise because I have no pictures and I haven't seen car #2 but I'm at home with nothing but S2000's on my mind and would like some opinions.
Is there any checks or areas I should look at on car #1 to at least give me a better idea to the state of play?
Thanks guys
Jason
If there's anything I have forgotten I'll add it in below.
