You are right honda hasn't made any changes to the s2k. But the only changes Mitsubishi made to the EVO X was....................TO MAKE IT SLOWER/UGLIER THAN THE EVO IX! ROFL!
Same price tag, slower car. Talk about progress!

Oh, didn't know you owned an STi. That answers why you're such an ass. lol
actually, the evo X is definetely a better car overall than the IX.
they have made progress.
ive owned 2 evo ix mr special editions
and im on my 2nd s2000...
all 4 cars modded.
and ive driven the evo X and seen some track prepped ones and the evo X is much sportier feeling than the IX and they also handle way better.
Stock, they arent really any faster, but they have a much better chassis and feel much sportier and funner to drive, while giving more everyday comforts.
The evo X with simple bolt-ons and tune can make over 350whp and equal torque.
stock they pull a .99G on the skidpad and with wider wheels and tires and coilovers, they are just plain sick, and i mean SICK
without any fender rolling at all, you can fit an 18x10 on a stock EVO X and run 275mm rubber like nothing
i love my s2000, and i loved the old evo's, but all the things i didnt like about my evo 9's, excluding the weight, have been addressed in the X.
Honda hasnt done much to make the s2000 more capable of a car.
the evo X is much more capable than the evo IX as a street car here in america.
And the looks and driving feel is much better.
The AP2 is an improvement on the AP1 sure, but, unless you are comparing the CR which has nothing in it that i cant add to my 05 AP2 for less money, the s2000 really hasnt changed much over the many years.
just because the evo x traps a few mph slower in the drag strip than the evo ix, doesnt matter. You should know this comming from a drivers car...

.MM,
God, thanks for summing it all up. Exactly what I was about to post. LOL! I don't know about you...but that extra 200lbs on the X. I really don't feel it compared to the 8/9. I'm sure you're already aware of this...but the X has better weight distribution. Which may help hide the heavy-ness of the car.
Anyways, it was either a CR or a EVO X. Ended up test driving one and was sold. I knew how badass the 8/9's were but the S-AYC on the X makes anyone driving it look like a professional driver. lol.

I'm an Evo IX RS owner thinking about switching to an S2000 for AutoX and track. I still haven't seen a seriously prepared Evo X at an autox so I'm looking forward to see which class it's gonna be competitive in.
I race in AS and there the S2000 is among the cars to beat. I also like keeping my cars stock which is why I'm leaning towards getting an S2000 rather than modifying the Evo for STU.
Still undecided though.

Gawd it felt like the slowest car ever. I just needed something with more ummph and precise handling.
I thought I might chime in for a sec..There must've been something wrong with your S2000 if it didn't give you precise handling.
Or maybe you need to learn how to drive better? As for the S2000 feeling like a slow car after you drove the Evo, well, no sh*t! The Evo comes stock with a turbo'd engine and somewhere around 280 base hp. The S2000 only has 237 hp and 162 lb-ft torque (on the AP2, of course). That's a huge difference. I am confident that if you were to turbo out your S2K, it would definitely be a lot faster than you'd expect. The S2000 already has high rpm levels, great handling, and decent enough speed to keep up with the best of them, but that stock hp and torque holds it back.
All Evo's and S2K's are completely different cars. There is no point in comparing the two. The S2000 IMO is better and easier to drive because of its quick responsive steering and extremely quick short shifter. The Evo has the same things, but the turbo can #### with a new driver easily, so for a beginner, it's better to stick with the S than to switch to the Evil...
I mean Evo.

yeah the evo is def more responsive, but doesnt handle as well as the s2000.
the evo is better for a noob driver, if the noob wants good lap times right away.
the s2000 is better for a noob driver who wants to learn how to actually drive his car.

i keep thinking about it
i love the s2000 too though, lol

I disagree about the S2000 being better for a new driver. If you're talking about the Evo having too much power then that might be valid. But it's easier to spin a RWD car than an AWD one. Also the Evo's steering ration is 13.0:1. I believe the early S2Ks were 13.8:1 and the from '04 onwards it's 14.9:1 (not the CR) so if anything the Evo is more responsive. Steering feedback is a different matter.
I guess it depends on a person's driving style. If you are into doing burn outs, trying to drive an AP1 on an off-ramp over 60 mph, and doing 0 - 60 mph sprints at every green light even when nobody is racing you, then the S2000 is not your type of car. Sure, the S2K does 0 - 60 in 5.7 seconds, but I have yet to meet an S driver who actually runs through every green light as though he is being raced. I see Evo & STi drivers doing that all the time.
