Well, everyone has his/her own opinion(s). To me, when I first drove a Evo (as a beginner in manual transmission), I kept thinking, "The S2000 is much easier."
I guess it depends on a person's driving style. If you are into doing burn outs, trying to drive an AP1 on an off-ramp over 60 mph, and doing 0 - 60 mph sprints at every green light even when nobody is racing you, then the S2000 is not your type of car. Sure, the S2K does 0 - 60 in 5.7 seconds, but I have yet to meet an S driver who actually runs through every green light as though he is being raced. I see Evo & STi drivers doing that all the time.
Honestly I think you're losing focus here. You've gone from comparing how the cars are to drive from a new driver's standpoint to profiling the type of people who own S2000s and Evos/STIs. What's really bothering you?

without any fender rolling at all, you can fit an 18x10 on a stock EVO X and run 275mm rubber like nothing
You think that's impressive. A local guy runs 295mm rubber on the new STi!! It may look ugly but it goes.

295 might be overkill on an sti

295 will fit on an evo X with some serious rolling and pulling

but not all cars make use of the grip

some cars like certain setups more than others.

There was a wide body evo 9 on evolutionm.net running 315mm R compounds and would 2 wheel all over the track and had to switch to a 285mm all around.

s2000's dont like anything much larger than a 255/265mm

unless youre pushing like 500whp, than the s2000 can make use of a wider rear, like a 275

anyway...

both cars are nice, but the s2000 is more a track/cruising/drivers car, while the evo is more a time attack/rally/drag and street killer

Whoa I just went through my contents and saw this thread from 2008. I don't even remember posting this! Anyway, I finally sold the White Evo 8 MR and ended up with a 2007 S2000 in LBP.

I agree that the S2000's acceleration feels slow like a corolla (no offense) but then again you're comparing apple to orange. N/A to Turbocharged. Slap on a SOS Supercharger and it's a different story. It'll be quicker than the bolt-on Evo I just sold.

So far I like the sportier feel, RWD, 50:50 weight distribution, mechanical shifter, handling, suspension (can feel the road) and mpg. I don't regret my decision.
