Default Fair lease rates for an '06?

Hey everybody, I'm possibly looking into leasing a new S2K. I posted this in another section but I figured I'd get more of a response in here.

I've been shopping around for some rates, but seem to be getting nowhere in terms of a bottom line lease payment. I've never leased a car before, so I'm a bit unsure what would be a "fair" price.

I realize that the number can fluctuate quite a bit depending on certain circumstances.

But basically I'm looking for a 3 year/ 36k mile lease with about $3-4k down. pretty good credit.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

They had a great lease special towards the end of 2005 to help move the remaining models. The deal was you put between 3k-5k down and pay $299 a month for 36 months. Some people on here claimed to have put much less down but who knows the other variables like miles on the car, color (of the car!), and credit score.

I missed the top credit tier by only a few points and was only able to put $2500 down. I am paying $393 a month after adding the Gap insurance. The deal also came with tint and free oil changes for the full 3 years. You will find a lot of people on here who got a much better deal than that but it was good enough to get me to sign the papers.

Lease? That means you mod it and take it off when you return the car.... Isn't that a hassle? Why don't you just purchase the vehicle. I am pretty sure that there are a lot of dealership that would work a deal with you, especially putting 5 gran down....

The old 2005 deal was as follows: $299/mth 36 mths with $3693 total due at signing. I would offer exactly that from what you are saying you want to put down. I am looking for the same thing but with $1K due at signing. My local dealer gave me a quote on a 2006 of $412/mth(+tax) for 36mths with 12K/yr 1K total at signing. Pretty good but I want to be closer to $385/mth before I close the deal. I have 3 mths until my current lease ends so I will wait and see what happens with lease offers. Good luck on yours!

marbs, what state are you in? I own an automotive leasing company near Chicago, Illinois and I could probably save you a lot of money. Let me know.

Cool, thanks for all the info.

That $299 lease sounds right up my alley. Anything close could be reasonable, but at least I've got a frame of reference. Thanks again.

I don't understand leasing...why not go with a car you can afford to buy?

because many of us are not planning to keep the car forever. i could get a new car after 3 years without dealing with the depreciation of the vehicle and the hassle of selling a car.

$800 drive off with $409 a month tax included. 12k/yr
