Default Finally bought an AP1

Hello All,

I have always wanted an s2000 but being a little impractical for the midwest I never had the opportunity. A few months ago I moved to Florida and we started looking for a car for my wife, she drives a 2013 Focus hatchback and I drive a BMW 135i, we wanted a car for her with a little bit more performance. We looked at WRX, EVOS and a few BMW. However, they were not as practical as the little focus so we decided to buy a "project car", I always wanted a 240Z but we decided that would be too much of a project. We went with the S2000 since we like the shape, the Honda reliability and that we can mod it like crazy or leave it the way it is and still have fun.

We found a 2002 with 89K miles unmodified but with a few problems, the price was right so we bought it:

Problems:
-Few paint scratches.
-Top is not leaking but has two repairs.
-EPS light is on and there is no power steering.
-Check engine was on.

Seller said that the check engine light was on because he replaced the O2 sensors but they think they had them backwards.

I started by doing the following:
-Cleaned MAP
-Cleaned air filter
-Cleaned IAC valve
-Ensured O2 sensors were correct.

BOOM! NO check engine light.

I just ordered an OBD2 Bluetooth scan tool so I can use it with the torque app and diagnose further the EPS light.

Stupid, but; check the fuses. Some people will remove the fuse for the EPS to give the car a more raw feel. I.E., no "power steering".

Good luck with everything, cheers!

There's also a way to reset the power steering via jumpering a couple of pins on the the ODB2 port. If the steering wheel is turned with both front tires off the ground the EPS will shutdown and/or indicate a fault. Reset fixes both.
