Default FINALLY A HONDA S2000!

so i've been dreaming about this car for about 5-6 years now, and i finally got it. its a brand new 2005 silverstone. The turning is like and so is the overall exerpience. this is my first manual car ever... so i did stall a few times

a quick question:

How long is the break in period and how many rpm's can you not go over???

I know its in the owner's manual but they said they don't have it and they will mail it over to me asap..

Thanks

edit: ohh.... this question has been answered in the other thread sorry

Congrats!

Your owners manual is probably in your secret compartment between the roll hoops.

1,000 KM is the break-in period. Since you're from Calgary, you should come out to our meet in April! More info here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...&f=71&t=370890

Which dealer did you get your car from?

Nope. I took mine over 6,000 rpm about 100 times during break-in. I personally believe in a hard break in, and I've had success going that route.

The biggest things to remember are to make sure the car is properly warmed up, refrain from hard braking, and check the oil level when the car is cold, as sometimes the S2000 burns some oil during break in (mine never did, and never has).

T&T is a great dealer, that's where I got mine from too!

So basically, if you want to follow the manual, take it easy on your car... don't go over 5,500 rpm for 1,000 KM. But my personal opinion is that I like to subject the car to the whole rev range during break in. I'm also not planning on keeping my car past 75,000 KM either, though.. so I'm not too worried about the possibility of the engine not lasting as long as it should.

Well, they wont go past redline (approx. 8,200 rpm) unless you downshift into a lower gear at too high of a speed (called a mechanical overrev).

I promise you, your car is fine!

You'll learn a lot at our meets, a few people in our group are very knowledgable, and we've got a really nice group locally

Note to self: Do not buy a used car from koala.
