Finally purchased my NFR S2K
Hello there!glad to finally be part of the wonderful S2000 community. A little bit about myself im 21 working full time and going to community college part time. Now i might be new to the S2000 game, but definitely not new to the Honda game I used to own 2 Ek hatches one being Midori Green and the other being Silver. So i just purchased my 2001 New Formula Red S2K this weekend, it was love at first sight.bought it with 44k miles on it with one previous owner always been a California car.price was a tad steep but I thought it was worth the money due to it having such low miles for the year it is . Not trying to anything that extreme to it quite yet, although i do plan on tracking the car once in a while. One of the first things i want to do with it are replacing the rear window on the vert top, an exhaust (still undecided), suspension, and possibly some Hyper Blue Volk CE28n, Spoon exterior (WAAAY later) haha. Ill post up some pics in a bit. Im also open to suggestions for an exhaust it's so hard to pick one, i'd like a dual exhaust that offers some power gain and not too noisy price range being $500-$800 i know thats not much to work with but its something haha. Thanks for looking at my post!
I've had my S2000 all of 7 months (!) but I recommend you drive the car for a few months before you start modding it.
Despite low mileage there are several maintenance items that are time, not mileage based so unless you have documentation all this has been done you need to change brake/clutch fluid and engine coolant along with the usual engine, transmission, and differential oil changes. There are details on this in the forum maintenance sections.
The critical handling component is tires. Coil overs with all-season street tires won't be much help. Learn how this car handles. Honda improved the handling just about every year. AP1 models will swap ends on you fast if you're inattentive.
Wait a few months on an exhaust system. This and a cold air intake will sound good but have marginal power increases unless you get the car tuned and even then may still be minimal.
