First time posting, don't have an S yet.
Hey, whats going on guys?
My name is Josh and your guys' site has been a big help so far for me. I am really interested in an S2000 but am not sure if its the car for me.
I'm 19 years old, and a full-time stuedent, part time employee making around $1100 a month, thank you ARMY. I live at home right now, and I would like to move out, but I'd also like to have a nice car, lol. The last car I had was a 1st gen AWD DSM. I had her boosted to around 16psi, and she was running good. Because of money issues back then I had to sell and buy a 93 civic. I just finished my swap, D16Z6, and I was going ot turbo it, but it seems like a newer car would be better. I've already checked and I could get a loan w/ payments around $300-$400 a month, and insurance is going to be around $200 a month.
My main questions are What are some of the thigns that go wrong with the different years of S2000?
I want to go FI, I've always missed my GSX and my turbo, hince the D series turbo plans on my civic. I know inlinepro and Ultimate racing make kits around the same pricerange, what supporting mods do you need with those kits? I hear a lot of talk about getting the 4.77 gears and such.
Are there any other 19 year olds who have an S2000 on here?
Do you think its a good idea for a 19 year old to have an S2000?
Dont worry about me being a ricer, my racer days died when I bought my GSX, I learned all about tunning with crome for my turbo D install, but my bonus came to late this year, and its to cold to put a turbo on a civic...which was good beause I saved some money, and am going to save for a downpayment and turbo kit for the S2000.
Any advice? Is it worth it to wait half a year for this car? I've always liked them, and never realised how much cheaper the used ones are. and god are they sexy with a hardtop!
Thanks for your time guys.

Im kind of in a same boat as you are there. If you planning to buy an S the best thing you can do for it, get a beater! I own a prelude 00 and I love that car. Right now im at a point where tomorrow im picking up my S and putting it straight to the garage till snow and gravel go away
But about payments and insurance you hit right on. Monthly payment for me is 402 bucks and insurance 250 for 500 ded wich is max deductible you can get if you finance true the bank. If you buy the car at dealership some times they will let you have a 1000 ded.
You should ask you self if you really want that car... Test drive couple of them, best is different years... 2000>2002 2003>2005 2006>2007. If you get the car drive responsebly... if you get a ticket thing will nail you the hardest is insurance, average teenager can aford to buy an car... but that teenager cant afford an insurance for it.
Good luck to you with what ever you do

I do like my speed, but you have to realise, I went from a 92hp Eclipse to a 200hp GSX..which was nice. Then went back to a 120hp civic, and so my next car, if its an S, will probobly be good for a couple months when it comes to speed. Sounds like they have some problems, thanks for being honest with me. I know I don't want a newer S2000, and I can't afford it so no big deal there.
Keep the info comming. and Thanks.
I also plan to keep my civic as a beater if I can afford it. Which insurance for that is only like 100 a month so i should be ok.
