California, that is. Bottom of Mt Hamilton Road, which will be fun. This is my first Honda automobile, though I have had several motorcycles. Looking to you guys for advice.
first off, I intend to do some road trips and thought a hardtop would be good to quiet things down. Recommendations?
Also, I am an active mountain biker and motorcyclist and poster on bayarearidersforum.com and go by Butch… I recently sold my ‘73 914-6. I have been round Laguna Seca many times

Reason: Pic!
Welcome! This site has a ton of advice listed for anything you want. Check it out. Over a couple of decades a lot has been done and said about this special car.
Hardtops are expensive and will not let you put the top down on the road. I am in the foothills east of Sacramento. I went for extra NVH insulation (See Killing Noise) and found the quiet factor is fine. I love top down driving but I am closer to great roads in the Sierras. If you want a hardtop, get one fast from EuroBotique in the Bay area but you will pay $7K.
Thanks, you guys rock. The VIN for the car I am allegedly getting is JHMAP21414T005966. How do I figure out what that means?
JATO is a rocket or something, no? My wife was a rocket scientist, actually. The brilliant little red headed girl. United Technologies, CSD. That is another story.
No real details in the VIN other than model year, engine (AP2), and production plant and sequence. Color isn't in the VIN nor much else as these cars are near perfect clones of each other.
Appears to be a 2004 S2000 "AP2" with 125,000-ish miles. Salvage title shows on MyCarFax dot com (free site, just create an account and enter your VIN) so it was "totaled" or otherwise written off by insurance at one time. Lived it's life in Arizona and Colorado. California title didn't show but it seems it's been there since last July..
thanks. I just insured it, even though it is still in Santa Cruz, not my garage in San Jose. The Hagerty told me it is a 2004, which is an AP2. It has a salvage title for the insurance claim for the blown engine. The new engine has 20K miles.
