Default Fuel Warning

Noob here...

Just wondering once your fuel warning light comes on, how many more miles do you have before it's empty?

On average..not what the manual says..but real world, and OG member experieces.

Thanks

^ that's a good point. Also, don't forget the mixture of crap in with the gas. If you run it really low, you start drawing in water and other stuff that otherwise floats (semi-)harmlessly on top.

I've gotten easily 20 miles with the light on, but truthfully the gauge is not that accurate once you're down to 2 bars or so (well, that's two bars on my MY02, not sure what the latest gauges look like).

since we're on this subject..........what's your mileage when you've hit the half-way mark. Just wondering if everyone's getting close to what i'm getting. I get about 120ish at the half way mark.

Good to know there is a fuel light. I haven't been brave enough to let the tank get that close to empty yet and was actually wondering if there is a low fuel light (obviously not worried enough to be bothered to actually search, haha).

As far as mid-tank, I think I've usually been around 140 miles. When driving around locally, I usually fill up when I get to around 230 miles, but when I was driving to PA from NC for Christmas, I was getting between 250-280 miles on a tank (most was 285 miles and then filled up with 10.1 gallons of gas).

There are numerous answers to this question.

I can tell ya for a fact the light does not work at all when the car is really being thrown around because I have run out of gas while the guage has shown slightly less than 1/2 tank. Again, let me say again - when the car is really being thrown around.

07 here and not that accurate for the gauge might be an understatement. Prior to my very 1st fill up, I started driving home fr work with 3 bars. Went down to 2 bars within a mile with the low fuel warning light. I still have about 15 miles to go and thought no sweat. After about 7 miles, there was no bar. WTF.. I freaked out cause the nearest gas station was about 3 miles away. anyhow I made it ok but needless to say what my lession learned was
