Well that's very nice it's under warranty. Maybe see if they have documentation from the clutch job.
Where in NJ are you from?

some 02's were affected by clutch buzz, that could possibly be the reason? Good luck on your purchase!

some people burn through clutches very quickly depending on their driving style and abilities. I've heard of people burning their clutches in 12,000 miles. If they told you it got a new clutch it is entirely possible if the previous owner wasn't a good driver.

Clutch should be fully engaged when shifting normally right?

and what about if your trying to shift quick? does it still need to be fully engaged? Thanks!
