Default Going to buy my first S2k...

What should I look out for when I go look at some with around 50-70,000 miles. I'm looking to buy an AP2, if that helps at all. I don't know much about S2k's I've read quite a lot, though, but have no experience with them what-so-ever. I've only seen one S2000 in my town, so I can't just find someone who knows about them to come check the car out with me.

Also, does anyone have any experience in snow, with winter tires? I plan on using it as a DD and our winters here in Northern Ontario are 4-6 months long.

Cheers,

Ryan

I'm 18 years old, I can't afford to pay for 2 cars, I work less than 2 KM's from home and when I start going to College, it's only a 15 minute drive, so snow won't be that bad. I have the car I'm using currently, a 97 Civic that I can maybe keep as a DD, but it's still not that high off the ground, especially when I put on the winter tires that use 15 inch wheels. I was planning on buying a set of AP1 wheels (if I get an AP2) and using those as winter rims and the AP2 wheels as summers with summer tires, so I don't have to get the tires changed all the time.

Also, I plan on taking tons of pictures once I buy one, I'm really picky, I have a 12-13k budget, since I have to import to Canada. Canadians are retarded when it comes to pricing, AP2's with over 100,000km's or 60,000 miles go for more than 20,000 dollars, before taxes. AP1's go for around 13,000, but I really want an AP2. and I can most likely find an AP2 and import it for a coupe hundred more than an AP1 costs after taxes.

Cheers,

Ryan

Looks, I like everything better about the AP2's looks, rear, front, wheels, head/rear lights, I'm not picky about the 9k or 8k rev's, I get take out a lot with my girlfriend so more cupholders is always a good thing, I head the AP2's have more interior storage, is that true? I also like the look of the centre console more with the AP2, I haven't driven either yet so that's not my issue atm.

There's a guy selling an 02 silverstone with 89,000kms and has the front lights, centre console, rear bumper and exhaust from an AP2 for 14,500, I think I might go for that. I really wanted any color but silver, but for the price I guess I'll have to go for it. There's an AP2 in suzuka blue with the blue interior with 80,000kms for 17,500, but then I don't like the blue interior and find the suzuka more feminin, but it's still nice.

Glass rear window is a must, especially with defrost since I plan on using it through winter.

Cheers,

Ryan

Decided to change my mind, I would rather an AP1 one, I like the dash cluster more, I've decided that the AP1's rears look better with aftermarket exhausts, front bumpers make no difference to me anymore and I can live with only one cupholder, I guess I'll hold my drinks after visiting A&W.

nice, you'd be happy with either choice, but you'd have more money left over for mods if you get the AP1!

And if I spent 20g's on an Ap2 with low mileage I'd be scared to use it through winter, but if I get a more used AP1, I won't be for some reason. I guess I can pick up an AP1 for 14,000ish and I'll be happy, color is my only issue as of right now, I've always hated silver cars, silverstone is okay, but sebring is too bland, black is retarded in the summer(I own a black civic) and I hate cleaning it, so I want yellow, red or white, all of which are hard to find around Sudbury, Ontario.
