Hello, everyone! I am a 36-year old dad, husband looking for an automotive change in my life. I currently drive a 2007 VW GLI, it's a great car and all but I'll admit I'm starting to miss having a RWD car. I've always wanted a convertible and the S2000 is sort of a bucket list car for me.

A few years ago I was afforded the opportunity to borrow a friends 2007 AP2 for a little over a week and I just adored that car. Top down, heater on and even drove my kid to and from daycare (he was 2-1/2" then-5 now) and he loves cars.

I'm also a lover of American muscle. I could totally see myself with an LS1 Camaro SS or Trans Am WS6. I know-totally different cars but I was raised on them and even owned some older versions.

At any rate, just wanted to say hi, show you what I've had and what I hope to have and hopefully will be able to report of a new car in the near future!

you have quite the brand loyalty to VW! interesting how that develops, you obviously had a connection with you first car that carried through. i'd be interested to hear about how you feel VW has evolved since the '80 scirocco...? the only VW i've owned was an '01 jetta 1.8T and it was definitely the worst car i've ever had(no offense!). the S2000 is clearly a complete departure from anything you've owned before and, yes, it's a honda! it's actually my first honda and to be honest i never imagined driving one. first thing that comes to mind is civics and mini vans, but the S2000 is a unique one. i get more questions/comments from people on the street than with any other car i've owned. most people don't know what it is but know they are looking at a sports car.

 

I often wonder how my life would have been if I had been 30 minutes sooner to the Diablo Dealer ad for a 1986 Escort GT ad I checked on....LOL The F Bodies come from my parents and 1st GF owning Trans Ams.

Anyways, I totally forgot to post pics of the S2k I drove.....It was seriously love at first drive....I got to borrow cars b/c my 2006 GTI was in the body shop (another story altogether) but during that 60 day stretch I got to drive the S2k, a heavily modified SRT4 (Neon) and a 2005 Mustang GT, and neither were even close to the Honda in driving pleasure.

I wish I could have bought this car when it was for sale. I love these cars.

As for your 1.8T, I have heard horror stories about them...me and my wife both had Jetta 1.8Ts and we never had any issues...no coilpacks, no window regulators....nada. weird.

yup, that's a nice looking S2000 you got to drive there. i was hooked on mine the first time i drove it too. it's a unique driving experience. of course, no one here is going to tell you not to get one...! you looked at any lately?

 

Looked at? Not yet but There's a 2000 with 24k on it and the price has dropped $2k since I first looked at it...not sure if I could daily an AP1 but then again, #YOLO (you only live once)
