I thought I posted a hello here, but I did a search and I guess I did not.
I have had my black car for about 2 months. We went to look at an old classic 1980's Mercedes SL (wife's idea). Instead, I drove back home with my S2000.
Always wanted one when they first came out, but money and stage of life did not fit. I was actually looking for a Suzuka Blue, but the Berlina Black has grown on me.
Fun Fun Car! but difficult for this middle aged body to get in and out. Finally took a few pics. No pics .. no car...

Nice looking S2k. You definitely made the right decision in my opinion.

I'm 65. I bought my s2k this spring. Like you I found it difficult to get in and out at first. But, I'm able to get in and out pretty well now. I'm not a super thin or fit guy either. I developed a method of getting in and out, taking care not to scuff the body with my feet on the way, by taking a bit of weight with my left hand placed on the side of the car next to or slightly behind your left shoulder as you swing your left leg out and onto the ground and then up to a standing position. When the top is down it works very easily. When the top is up I still find something in that same area to support my left hand - not sure what exactly without getting out to the garage. It is in the same general area of the spot where the top meets the body near the door strike.

It reminds me a bit of getting in and out of my sea kayak.

Actually, the entire experience of driving this car is a lot like lumpy water sea kayaking on dry land.

I do my best to get in out of the car without wearing out the leather bolsters, but failing slightly each time. I am going to get some seat covers once I decide on what brand. My wife must be pulling on the front window frame when she gets out because I have seen some scuffs on the paint probably from her wedding ring; going to have to talk to her about that.

Lol...I commend you on your ownership of the S2000. Most people our age are driving something more comfortable or expensive. I saw a Boxster Spyder behind me on a nice Sunday afternoon drive. I was a bit jealous..., but I reminded myself about the maintenance costs. My wife thinks the S2000 is for teenagers. She wants me to get a Porsche, Maserati, or anything with better "status."

I'm sure she is a very nice lady. She isn't a driver. Nothing wrong with those cars. They are very nice cars. But give me a break - "status."

If you have plenty of extra money that you don't need for yourself or your grandchildren, and if you don't mind the fact that your toy will be in the shop a fair amount, then sure - go for "status." Otherwise - go for the s2k. I grew up in a town with lots of sports cars owned by very wealthy people. When I was a boy I coveted those cars. I'm over that. S2k all the way. I like have a little extra legal tender for other things. S2k fulfills my driving needs 100%.
