Default Help with buying an s2000

Hi everybody,

I am looking to buy a used s2000 and i thought i found a decent deal but now I am not so sure. Here is the deal. It is a 2002 black on black in michigan with 20k miles. it is going for 22k. Seems like a solid deal, but i ran the carfax and it has had four owners! everything else checks out, but the owner told me it had one owner (minus delivery) so I am nervous now. The car is on a lease so I am not sure if that would affect the owner ship status. Carfax said it was originally titled as a personal use car and now is a lease. The ownership history dates are 10/02,7/03, 7/05, and 8/05.

I am not sure what to make of this and If anyone could shed some insight onto what this ownership status means I would really appreciate it.

Wow, four owners sounds a little suspect. Keep looking and good luck!

Ok, I wasn't sure if car dealerships sell leases or anything like that. I know that home mortgages often change hands (not sure what it is called but my roomate refinances mortgages and he told me about it!) and I thought a lease might go through something similar and show up on the carfax.

oh well, if it is to good to be true...

An 02 with 20k for 22k isn't that good of a deal. I'd keep looking.

4 owners isn't that big of a deal. The owner saying differently is. As clawhammer said, 22k for an 02, especially when subjected to the Northern climate, isn't that great of a deal anyhow. Now if he was asking 20 or less I'd get a tech to check it out thoroughly than buy that thing in a heartbeat.

four owners shouldn't be that big of a deal. An impulse purchase usually puts someone behind the wheel of a car like an S2000 before they realize that it doesn't fit their lifestyle. Or you could have seen what I have. We sold a 2005 silverstone/black S2000 on friday and the lady traded it back in on wednesday. Her reason? I showed her the silverstone with the Red/black that came in that morning. She put 105 miles on the car. Needless to say the second buyer got a steal on that one.

wouldn't touch that car....4 owners is 4 more then i would like.but if you buy used get a car an old man or women was driving as they don't tend to beat the car up.yeah and 22k for a my02 does seem kinda high.

Peace
