Jamie, this car is going to cost you a whole lot more money than you expect... At 16, I can't even imagine what your insurance will be.

I recommend waiting until you have some money put aside. Just my opinion.
Maybe he is loaded?

Good luck with your purchase, and be sure to check out the insurance rates as Chazmo said. If possible get the newer one.

Thanks everyone....and I'm not terribly loaded. Insurance on the S2000 is actually less than on my Eclipse!!! 803 dollars every 6 months for the s2k.....907 every six months for the eclipse! I'm getting a job at a local place. I'm selling my Ecliplse for 7,500.

The dealership I was going to buy the s2000 at has sold 3 of the ones I am looking at. However now they have a white 2001 s2k with 50,000 miles for 6,000 dollars. It has been hit in the front/right side. With my 7,500 from my car plus fourwheeler and my hitting my papaw up for money i should be able to get around 10,000 cash. If needed I can potentially borrow a few more thousand from him (he IS loaded). My birthday is coming up and i will get around 1,000 from that. I honestly think I can afford this car.

The white s2k I am looking at has been hit in the front/right side. I started the engine and it runs well. How much do you estimate it will cost for a new front end?.........I also need a passengers side door and airbags and the car is fixed.

Jamie,

OK, don't say I didn't warn you.

You might want to post in under-the-hood. For this extensive a repair, some of the folks there have probably done work like this.

Another thought for you is to find a local mechanic (from your regional forum) who can advise you on the expense. Don't bother asking a dealership; that's a waste of time.

My guess is a new front end would be well over 5 grand including suspension and bodywork, but that's just a guess.

Ok, thanks man. My friends uncle owns a carlot/junk yard/paint place and he said he'd give it a look over and look up all the parts.

He also has a frame puller, just in case the frame is bent a lil bit.

Sorry if I seem like I'm ignoring the comments. I just have my mind set on this car and I'm going to find a way to get it. I've wanted one since i was 10.

Well the s2000 I'm looking at is going to take far to much work and money for it to be fesible for me. However I have found an Rx-8 that is very cheap and that I can fix myself. So I suppose I'm going to try and act on it and possibly trade almost even for a s2000 sometime this summer or next year as a graduation present to myself.
