Hey I am new to the s2000 world.
Hey guys I just got a 2001 S2000 a week ago and I have to say I love it. I wanna give ya a little background on me and my previous project. My last vehicle was a Isuzu Impulse rs factory its turboed awd with lotus suspension. Neat little car. Anyways I did a forged bottom end raised compression to 9.35 ported polished head mild cams 780 cc injectors haltech standalone computer custom equal length manifold that i welded up 60 trim t3t4 fmic blitz electronic boost controller and the list goes on and on. Long story short i blew the motor up quite a few times. Everytime it was a little problem that turned big. Anyway it was time for me to ditch the problem and this time I just wanted a cruiser so thats where the S2000 comes in. Well my goals for it are like i said a nice cruiser but id like it to be kind of peppy. Heres what im looking for I want it to run consistand 13's pref in the 13.5 range. I dont want to go nuts with the car in other words nothing that will really affect reliability of the car. Id prefer to stay away from anything that needs tuning like vafc really dont want to do exhaust because im not a fan of na 4 cyl exhaust unless there is a nice quiet not raspy sounding exhaust out there I have my Nitro rc cars for that sound. Anyways im looking for very simple bolt ons. So I apologize for the length of the post and im sure i just asked the same question you guys have read 100 times but I didnt find it with search. I did find I should run between a 13.9 and 14.3 with mine stock and removing the stereo is very simple hehehe. So any suggestions on what I should do to make it a nice quick car let me know. Thanks alot everyone
well first of all congrats and welcome, i know u said u didnt want exhaust but if u want some sort of an increase in HP a single would be a way 2 start, ive heard that the J's single isnt to loud and its very lightweight something like 8 or 9 pounds, another upgrade would be an intake system AEM has the best results but you risk your car everytime it gets flooded outside. get gears 4.57R's are usually what most members get on an AP1
Welcome! Like stated above, throw on a lightweight exhaust, upgrade your final gear, and the SEARCH engine is your friend.

thanks for the welcome guys. The main reason I want to stay away from these loud exhausts is because the ones ive heard made me a little sick. So it seems like you guys are saying its kinda hard to get these into the 13's without doing major mods like swapping gears. Good to know I meen i didnt buy it to be a rocket just wishful thinking i could get 13's with it without tearing the car apart I agree the search is great but I already used it and didnt see to many performance oriented posts and what bolts ons did what.

well i believe there is a member here that ran i think a 13.6, with a totally stock AP2.
I recommend getting 4.57s, a good exhaust + test pipe, intake, and the car will be plenty quick.
hey thanks for the suggestions and sorry I didnt know I was suppoesed to post in that section as my first post. Anyways youre all pretty much suggesting exhaust but is there a quiet one with a nice tone out there?
Welcome, isu.
I'm kinda with you on the exhaust stuff. When I'm at the track, it's awesome to listen to those cars with aftermarket exhausts, but day-to-day...?
That said, the stock exhaust is way too heavy. You can knock almost 30 pounds off your car with a new exhaust -- that may not equate to HP, but lighter is better!
Gears, as someone suggested, might be a great way for you to bump performance, at least at low speeds. By increasing the ratio of the final drive gear, you end up multiplying your torque (you probably know this already).
