Default hey, noob here

hey all, just registered today, as i was looking to maybe buy an S sometime later this fall. i have like the s since it came out, but i never realized that the prices were down to the mid teens. umm, a little bit about myself.....

my name is grant, im 20, graduated lincoln technical institute last fall(lol, waste of money i know), still working as a manager at a local carwash chain coming up on 3 years next month(mikes carwash for those in indiana/ohio), have been into cars ever since i was little, and was bitten by the motorcycle bug this spring. ive had a lot of different cars since i was 16- 92 and 93 preludes, 95 civic hatch, 91 crx, 2 87 supra turbos, 98 buick regal gs(supercharged), 240sx, and currently have an E36(92-99 bmw 3 series) and 2 motorcycles. my bmw is pretty slow, but has about every suspension mod around, so it handles awesome. it used to be my pride and joy, but since ive gotten into bikes, i never drive it lol. ive got a '94 cbr600 thats for sale, and a gsxr 750 with quite a few mods done to it.

anywho, since ive got a 3 series, i was looking at an M3 for my next car, but i think an S2000 would be a better decision financially. i look forward to talking to some of you, and the site looks great! -grant

Well I guess the question here is what can you financially afford? I too have had quite a bit of cars and bikes in my day (CBR 600 F2 & GSXR 750). I bought an 06' M3 recently, then bought a used 02' S2 as a DD. I will say that with today's gas prices I'm certainly glad to have the S2.

Are you going to get a new or used M? And are you going for the new V8 M3?

In terms of driving I love both but I feel that I could best improve my driving skills in the S2. Plus parts are cheaper in the S

Now insurance would be another issue. I pay a bit more for the M3 than the S2. I would keep that in the back of your head.

haha, unfortunately, i wouldnt be able to get a newer M3, i would be in the range for an E36 M. i like the 540 6speeds, but with the gas prices, ill be perfectly happy with a motorcycle, and an S2000. i love my E36, but it seems like something else goes wrong with it every time i i drive it lol. how is insurance on S2000s? i know i can afford to have an S2000, but was just wondering about the insurance part.

I'm paying $3500 a year for my M and about $1600 for the S.
