Default HI! Future S2K owner here

Hello everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 18 years old, I live in Honolulu, Hawaii, and I'm in the market for an S2000. I've envied other S2000 owners ever since I saw my first one on the road. Well, you probably all heard of this before, I'm sure however it does not get old: The S2000 is indisputably a quality built car. The best HP per liter in it's class, not to mention awesome handling on the road. This is why I would very much like to own one. I do have a few questions for you current S2000 owners out there if you'd be kind enough to help me out:
1. What is the better choice as far as modifying goes? AP1 or AP2. I already know that there are cosmetic upgrades and a slightly larger displacement.
2. I've heard from a source that AP1 aftermarket parts will fit AP2. Is this true?
3. Basically what can I expect from an AP1/AP2. What are the advantages/disadvantages if comparable?

Welcome!

Well, you live in a great place to have an S. Best wishes on the hunt. Send a PM to user Colin on the board -- he's one of the original S owners and has had several of them in Honolulu (I think)...

I think you heard wrong on #2. I'm *positive* if you're talking about engine mods, that you'd have to be very careful and that most forced-induction stuff is model-specific. As for body kits, that just doesn't sound right at all. The bumpers and headlight clusters are different.

I think there's no point in taking sides on teh AP1/AP2 debate. The 8K/9K redline thing is a silly point. WHat's a fact, though, is you'll pay less for an AP1, and you'll have more $$ in your pocket to think about your mods.
