Hi ! I'm new here !
Hello everyone
First of all, i want to say that i'm not very good in english. I'm from Quebec. Your forum is the best forum i found about the s2000. I've learn a lot of thing here. thanks !
I'm looking to buy a s2000. I have found one this week but i need your advise.
It's a 2001 with 26 000 mile, never winter drive. What i notice on the car is that the rear windows doesn't look really good. Do you think that with a good product it will come clear !?
The other thing is that there is a small bend (i'm not sure of the term) on the passanger side. It's look like someone hit the car with something. But the paint is good. I will need to repair that.
What other thing should i check on the car !? I'm going to see it for the second time tomorrow.
The price is 25 000$CAN. Here in quebec, a brend new s2000 is about 50 000$CAN to give you an idea.
Thank you
Alex

Bonjour (my French isn't good either).
I would probably pass on that one. What kind of a "bend"? Can you ascertain if there is any other related damage? If you get serious about this, I would (or have a mechanic) inspect the valve retainers and have a compression check done; otherwise you could be in for trouble.
It may be difficult to get that plastic looking like new. Is it hazy/cloudy? You would want to try plexus or this.

Hi, thank you for the reply.
The rear plastic windows is cloudy. Actually i think that i'm gonna only take the car only on sunny day, so the top will be always down, but i wanted to know if i could do something to have a little more clear windows. I will look for the product you suggest me.
I dont know how to explain the "bend". It's a round like a little more than 1 inches diameter. The man who have the car said to me that his wife hit the car with a market basket (i don't know if it's the good term). He said to me that it will cost about 400$CAN to repair it. There is no other damage to the car except around the shifter. The plastic is scratch but all the S2000 i have saw was like that.
How do i check the valve retainers ?
Merci !
Alex

Over rev damage may not show up for quite some time, that is why it is important to have this checked. Billman250 is the EXPERT around here, he is an S2000 mechanic in NY. Here is a thread that may help you out; also search the forums for "over rev":
