Buying an s2000
Hi,
I'm looking to spend between 5-6k, any recommendations in terms of age? Anything I need to look out for?
. I test drove one at a dealers for 14k and loved it but don't want to spend that much!
Thanks very much

What up! Sorry, but in my opinion, you will have a very hard time looking for one with your budget. I mean you have to get REAL lucky. Other than that, from my experience, look out for tires and the top. The problem I had with tops when looking was that they were in poor condition and one time the top didn't even align properly to the hooks; the top wasn't even brand new so that told me it's been hit. I think those two are the main things to look out for in this car, and of course the engine bay, paint, and all that good stuff. Thought I'd share my two cents, but of course I could be totally wrong. Good luck and welcome!
That should be about $8-$9k US I beleive.
Not sure if s2k values run about the same there as here, but it would require some patience to find a good car in the price range. I’m not saying it would be impossible, though.
You will probably have to make some compromises. I doubt you will find a low mileage car with a great top and good tires in that range. That said, don’t overlook a high mileage s2k if it has been maintained (it is a Honda after all). Again, I’m basing that on what they sell for in my region of the US. My target was $10k, but found a near perfect ’00 with 57k miles for $12k. It was definitely worth it for me to spend the extra $2k for this particular car.
Read everything you can on here. There is some maintenance you will want to do after getting it (oil, diff fluid, tans fluid, grease the shifter, etc.).
