Default Honda virgin...Hooked on the S2000.

How's it going fellas? I'm a newbie when it comes to Honda. I'm a Ford guy through and through. I am also an avid autocrosser. There is a guy I autocross with who just recently traded his regular S2000 in for a CR S2000.

This guy was extremely nice enough to let me drive the car once through the course and I can't explain how amazing this car is. Words just can't convey my feelings. I would not have asked to drive any other Honda for the first time....Honestly all the other just bore me. I'm so impressed by the CR that I am seriously considering one.

My one and only problem is I have another car in mind (if you're thinking Ford, then you're correct). My other choice is a 03 SVT Cobra. I won't be buying either one for the next couple of years, but I want to know what the Honda community thinks.

Welcome. I'm glad to see you enjoyed your drive with an S2000. What you have to keep in mind is that you're asking an S2000 community what we think about your future car purchase. We can't tell you. Of course we think the S2000 is fun...but it's up to you to decide what's better.

S2000 or terminator? You won't go nearly as fast in an S2000, I can tell you that...

Yes. I understand that and I know that the S2000 wouldn't go as fast as the Terminator. Those aren't really my worries. I know alot about the Cobra and love the car.

I was more or less concerned with the S2000 aspect. It would be a DD/occasional auto-x/track car. Just trying to instigate some sort of conversation on the car, especially being as I'm new to the Honda field.

I drove mine as a DD for a year and honestly it was great. I think it would be a better match than a Cobra, even though there's less space in it...the car wouldn't spin out nearly as easy. Of course that's another aspect where people will agree and disagree with me...but I'm an experienced driver and I was always fine with my S...rain and some snow even. Auto-x is lots of fun with this car, but the track...I wouldn't even go there. Let's just say this car was not meant to go straight.

You'll strike up more of a conversation in S2000 Talk. Not all of the members come on here to greet like some of us do. Anyway, good luck

The 03-04 Cobras are Awesome cars but there totally different from an s2000. If you havent had a RWD car jumping into a 390hspw car for your first one would be quite a jump. It really depends on what ya wanna do if you wanna go fast for less money the cobra mods nicely.
Ive always loved them and i actually appreciate how well they how their value compared to most american cars.

i don't think he was referring to the drag strip. in which case, even more reason to get the S. daily's well, tracks well.

I've been autoxing for longer than most of these guys have been alive. I've run a ton of different cars...but the s2k has been the best stock class autoxer I've ever driven. It is very fun to autox.

i had a mustang a few years ago.. and no you cannot compare an s2000 with a terminator in terms of straight line speed stock for stock..

One thing i notice about the differences in the two is just plain and simple quality..

HID's , tight steering and suspension, Digital display and a very comfortable and homey interior ... basically the overall feel of the car is more "refined"

When you sit in a mustang it feels cheap and dull and loose and heavy.. even though the 390hp is a beast with lots of bolt on potential..

Anyways not a fanboy opinion because i don't even own an s2k yet im just looking to purchase one.. Im just giving my opinion as a fellow mustang owner and being as i've driven s2ks before

Ok i had a 98 cobra now i know its no 03-04 cobra. But like u said u want a DD/auto x weapon. Well for that get the CR hands down. So hurry up and get rid of the focus and get in that CR. Now if u were just into drag i would say for for the 03-04 cobra
