AP1 = good
AP2 = also good

I've owned both.
I prefer the AP1 (MY02 - 03 to be specific.)
YMMV.

I think the AP2 is easier to live with. I test drove a LOT of S2000s before I settled on mine. After a while, when it came to MY money, I had to go with the car that looked more updated and upscale. The AP1 is what made me fall in love with the S2000, but the AP2 does overall look better, has a nicer interior, and who doesn't want a newer car? Its easier to find one with a warranty, and lower miles. Its up to you in the end. Just don't buy into the AP2>AP1, 9K>8K, etc etc stupidity. The S2000 is a fantastic ride regardless of year/color/engine/body.

I vote for buy the cleanest car you can find with no curb rash, damage to the front bumper/spoiler or any other sign of driver incompetence.

After test driving the Boxster and the Z4, I bought a no mileage, high VIN 2000 S2000 from a collector who put it on a transporter and sent it to me.

I just like the car in it's raw, edgy original iteration. I think with each successive model year since the car's introduction, Honda has endeavored to make the S2000 more of a girl's car.

Hey, but what do I know? I like the CR - goofy wing and all!

Both are great cars, but I test drove both, and liked the performance of the AP2 way better than the AP1. Mine is a white 2006. It would be cool to have both though since the S2000 is the best car out there, IMHO, for the money.

Either are great. AP1 saves you money, AP2 has more torque.

I have an AP1, but I run boost with the money I saved.

Chances are, you aren't going to get any more new information than what's discussed in previous discussions.

Those who own AP1s will tell you about the redline, and those who own AP2s will tell you about the torque, looks and refinements. Aren't humans all biased? AP2 owners will tell you AP2 is the bomb, and likewise AP1 owners will tell you AP1 is the way to go ...

Anyway, go with whatever you feel like doing ... worst case scenario, flip a coin. Can't go wrong, both are S2000s man.

Me? I own an AP2, and I have my own reasons for choosing an AP2 over an AP1

I may go look at that ap2 agian, given is really what I'm looking for.... color and all. it has 12,900 miles on it... for an 05 that's not bad... the car is in amazing shape, the interior minus a bit of dust looks like it's brand new... the paint is the same way, though there is a few marks on the lower front bumper.... but all said and done they want $25... which is average according to autotrader... I looked up autotrader, 05' model with less than 30K in 300 miles.. that's what it came up with..

ok, I think this answered my question.... seems like there isn't a big pit fall to the ap2.... which is good.... because ultimately I want something low mileage and that's what I'm going to try to find, and white I think... normally I never look for a car in a certain color but this time I think I will.

still thinking about that 05.. warranty, low mileage, I mean I might be able to find one for what? $1000 less? but with more miles though?
