Post I WANT S2K!@@

Ok, so it has been a long long time, perhaps since 2002 when I last had my 2seater CRX Si w/ JDM b16a. Wow, I miss that car very much, but due to personal reasons I had to give her up.

S2k's have been on my wish list for as long as I can remember, since the birth of them. My cousin and I are die hard Honda heads, often stating that the CRX evolved into the delsol, which evolved into the S2K, seems practical since all were the only 2seaters made by Honda. Anway, I think the time has come now to truly get an S. I currently drive a DC2 (integra GSR), and use my Accord Sedan as a daily most of the time. I'm thinking about selling both of them to get a used AP1. I've seen some for pretty good prices, but my budget would probably be around 15k (US). Definately, going to get a hardtop and simple mods like CAI, and exhuast sytem, maybe some headers, and a slight drop on some Mugens would be extremely nice.

After further reading, I hear nothign but praise about this car, not a single flaw, except from the tall people not having very much room lol. Other than that, everything seems be like a key in it's hole, a perfect fitment from all the people that have enjoyed and still love this car.

I'm on the West Coast of California, and been looking at the prices jsut starting this week, and been doing a little research here and there, but have not actually test driven one yet. I can't afford a brand new one from the dealership, so I'm not even going to bother going there. Other than roominess, and typical burning of oil that vtec loves to do, is there anything else I should look for when checking out used s2k's. I mean, anything that is notoriously known for these cars and I should definately watch out for? Any other info would be great!

Thanks

make sure when you look for one you test drive it and make sure the rear axles arent vibrating...and it shifts smooth from 1st to 2nd at all rpm ranges, so far those are my only problems(high rpm it grinds into 2nd) and many others have this slight "problem" with AP1's..if u can, go for a later model AP1 like a 2002

i have read that excessive valve chatter is a common also

before you go selling the other two cars for an S you should really consider the lack of room these cars have, not trying to talk you out of it but its something i never thought about and now im kicking myself, makes you feel like a midget when you ride in a 350z or pretty much any other car

I have another Civic sedan that I'm keeping, these cars can go though. As far as the room issue, everything else will probably make up for it. I'm use to small cars, it's a lot easier to clean inside and out, and is less prone to clutter.

Definitely take a look at the 1, 2 shift grind. It is nothing that'll harm the car but just annoying. Alot of people have and it can be fixed. Also, I would take a look at 02-03 Ap1s since they have the glass window and alot of the minor issues fixed. Trust me, you will be glad you got the glass window w/defroster. I can't think of anything else being a problem engine wise, but maybe someone else can come up with something. Good luck.

+1 on MY02-03, some nice upgrades. Keep an eye on the F/S forums here, also get to know your local owners group, as they often will get the early word on cars for sale and are a great resource for info. Finally, many people have found cars using Craigslist. Good luck.
