Noob - General s2k questions / infomation
Gday guys
My name is Lyle, i am 22 from Brisbane Australia. Over the past 6 years i have been involved in the Honda modifying sceen and growing with knowledge and experience ever since. Over this time I have owned and modified my Eg civic, as well as worked on and modified a range of other hondas. Mainly Civics/prelude/crx/integra.
Over this space in time i have alwayes jumped into DIY modifications, (pain/panel, performance, stereo, suspension/brakes etc), lernt alot but after an issure or problem has come up.
Id have to say, owning a s2000 has been a dream of mine since i was a late teenager. Now it has come to the point where i am considering letting go of my civic (which i have been strongly attached too over the past 6 years), and aim for my dream car that now is starting to get finiantially realistic for me. (the fact my mother just bought a convertible doesnt help either!)
Basically my aim of the car would be a street driven all rounder (but not daily driven)
* Looks Hot
* Goes good ( 12sec)
* Handells good
* Good sound system
Really aim of this thred would be if people could let me know pros and cons to the car. Maybe post some links on car infomation (possibly audm spec). Common problems OEM / Modified
Over all years and models of the s2k (ap1/ap2) is everything interchangeable. Or are some aspects year/model specific.
Any commen misstakes noobs make when they begin to modify the s2k.
I am interested in boosting the s2k. Mostly likely a low boost factory build. Are there any commen obstacles to overcome? best manufactures of parts to use keep in mind i would like to steer clear of turbo kits.
I currently have a Garrett Gt3040 .63 Rear with a 38mm Tial external Wastegate. Would this be a suitable turbo for the f20c? (i realise it depends on goals, but generally speaking) what sort of performance/potential could this give me. Any links/info on performance packages possibly available that have good value for performance. Say maybe the 2.2L stroker?
Recently on my Civic i have run equipment like Tein Flex and Spoon 4 piston calipers. Are these parts specifically available for the S2k. Edfc Compatible?
What is a resonable size wheel to run. Something that will clear spoon front calipers, something with a resonable size rear dish. 5/6 spoke design. Probably 18nch. Maybe Rays Gram Lights 57S-PRO... Anyone with any experience?
Are they any manufactures that make Tuned length Stainless High mount turbo manifolds for the S2k. Lovefab/full race etc?
Althought Stereo isnt as much to me as it was in younger years. Im still have a soft spot for the odd subwoffer. What are the capabilities of stereo systems in the s2k? Does haveing a soft top that folds back into the. Has anyone ever installed a subwoffer into the compartment between both head rests etc? Any linkes to stereo setups for some ideas?
Thanks in advance to everyone. This is literally my starting point with research.
All information, advice, Links, build threds are more then appreciated
Regards Lyle
