Default Introduction/Questions

Hey guys,

I'm a new owner of an '05 Suzuka blue on blue S2000 with 13,000 miles at purchase. (It's got a few more now.) I think the best things the previous owners had done for this car was to keep it garaged and not drive it much. Maintenance records are a little spotty, but condition looks almost new except a little curb rash on a couple of the wheels and a little fading of the interior. I immediately had the oil and filter and differential grease changed. Otherwise, everything seems to work.

A couple of questions: I noticed a couple of velcro strips on the rear window under the convertible top fabric. The adhesive has pretty well crumbled and It appears the "hook" part of the strips are missing. Was this originally there to stick the cloth to the glass and reduce fluttering of the fabric surrounding the glass? Can I get some regular black velcro and replace the old stuff? It appears that the top is in great shape otherwise. I want to preserve it's condition. Is there anything to watch out for?

I notice a slightly rough feeling when I shift from first to second, mostly when the car is cold. Is this something to be concerned about, and/or should I have the transmission serviced?

Thanks, I'll be checking in.

Don

The shifting could be normal. The transmission on my car has to warm up before it shifts completely smoothly, then it's like butter.

Here are a couple things I would do:

1. Change the fluid in the transmission. Use the Honda gear oil made for the S2000. Nothing else will shift as smoothly.

2. Open you drivers door and climb under your dash looking up. Run your finger around the clutch master cylinder where the push rod goes in. If you get hydraulic fluid on your finger then you should replace the clutch master cylinder.

Other than that, they're usually pretty solid.
