Default It's been about a year now...

And no S2k yet. At first I just wanted one, then I really wanted one. My M3's motor had an issue, got that fixed now in the process of selling it.

In this time I became a paid member here and have spent almost all my online time at this site reading up about the car, their owners, etc... I have become obsessed and my friends are sick of me talking about 'em.

But alas, I have come to the realization that I will not be getting an S2k for a while...

I have about a year or more left to finish school and have decided to just buy a car with what I get on the M3 and have that hold me over until I finish school. I guess it would be more responsible of me to avoid having a car payment during school and while I try paying off my college loan.

So, I guess I'm shopping for an 03-04 RSX Type-S for ~$14,000

And I thought by now I'd be revving through gears with the top down in a brand-new s2k. Well **** my life.

im in the same position, but i don't have an M3.

Our household has never had a true sports car, so we are considering in purchasing one, since I am now able to drive and can make payments. I of course will not be making full payments, but half plus insurance with the help of my parents. This way payments are easier on me, while still in school.

I don't get it, if you have $14 to spend, why not get an 02-03 S?

insurance bud,.............insurance.

Or he probably just wants an AP2. I mean I can afford an s2000 too, but my insurance would go from a happy 500.00 to an unhappy 1200.00.

What year M3 do you have? Why sell it if you just spent a bunch of money fixing the engine if you can't get the car you've been wanting for a year. And depending on location and driving record, insurance doesnt have to be a killer.

Its not worth buying a "new" car for a year just because you want to drive something new. If the M3 isnt falling apart, live with it until you finish school and then you can worry about getting something else based on what sort of job you land.

The M3 is a 97 with 135,XXX miles and I don't want to continue driving it because I would rather not deal with any other potential problems. The car is sound now, but who knows what the future holds.

As for getting an older s2k... I really want to buy one new and raise it so-to-speak. I've never had a NEW car, and something like the S2k I would like to baby from the start and perhaps keep for a long time.

I am also considering the Elise though, so maybe holding out will open new options to me.

Can I really find a clean, reliable, and reasonably-low mileage S2k for up to $15,000?

Depends on what "low miles" means. Either way, would probably have to be an 00 or 01. But low prices are out there. I got mine for under $20k (and new tires also) with 32k miles on it from a Honda dealer, no haggling.
