Do you have any regrets?........
Im new to this board, my S2K is coming in sometime late this month, or early May. I just love the enthusiasm on this board!
But I was wondering if any of you regrets about your S2K? Here is my situation. Im 24, been out of college for a little over a year, and making enough $ to afford the S2K. Money should be no issue, but it is. Im thinking now is the time to save the dough, especially since the economy is getting really "weird". I should be buying up stocks now, and cashing out later. Plus things with the girlfriend are getting serious, probably should save up just in case...
Problem is, I want an S2K brand new (yes Im a spoiled a$$ brat). They probably will stop making the car this year or next. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the car that I want. I did a Mechanical and Electrical Engineering undergrad because I wanted to work with Honda in Ohio (almost did, long story). I just love everything about the car!
Anyway, to get to the point, have any of you ever been in a similar situation where you shouldve saved up, or just went balls out? I hate regrets, and always take these huge risks. Hell, I was crazy enough to move to Austin for my girlfriend after going out with her for 2 months (an even longer story). Have not regretted it one bit
But $30K is alot of $. Save it for my future (ie. family?). Or should this be another balls out decision?.....Im leaning towards the car
Plus, you only live once, and I can say I had it all once in my life, beautiful woman, beautiful car, what more could you want?

I had second thoughts when I saw the current condition of the stock market, but, thats what financing is for
I had second thoughts from time to time, but I look at it now and im all smiles.
Like a friend recently told me. Your most important investment is yourself and your sanity. If what you want is this car... and it fits your life right now... do it.

I'm not really in your shoes...35, unmarried, etc...
But I think you will find both schools of thought here. People who say save/invest now...wait until later. Blah blah blah. I say go for it. You only live once. I'm a rebel like that anyway, so that's how I live, but my income is high so I can actually do both. You can have regrets either way...by getting the car or not getting the car. It's all about your perspective on things. But if I was in your shoes and had the burn for the car like you seem to, I would go for it.
You only live once and you gotta get out and grab life by the collar and shake it around...that, to me, is what living is all about.
Of course, that's just my 23,037 inflation adjusted Italian Lira.

Sort of had the same dilemma...
I am 28, need to get married, but don't know when...
Same question - dump more money into stocks, save up to buy a house, save up to go to MBA school, save up money for marriage - yeah the burdens of growing older
Then I went crazy and bought a silver stook.
Screw the stock market - already lost way too much on it - couldn't really concentrate on work with all that money in there anyhow. Can you say CAPITULATION?
Dude, you are still young. Live life. Now if you were my age...
. You still should buy a stook.
Regrets - none - then again I only have 500 miles on mine.
Hey, I was going to work for GM on their hybrid vehicles. But decided not too. GM and what sell out Honda - that would be blasphemy!!!
One more thing, my girlfriend was very opposed to me buying the stook. She said it was irresponsible and immature, but when she rode in it with the top down - all that blew away in an instant
!!!

My 2001 car now has 1700 miles on the clock but when I ordered it I also considered a 911 (1990-1992) or a NSX (1992 - 1994) for approx the same price.
After much deliberation I went for the S2K mainly because my wife kept going on about the other cars being so old and the servicing costs for the 911 are v.high.
I love the S2K for its pinpoint sharpness but I do wish it had more torque and hence I do have a little regret as I think the NSX would have satisfied my desires a bit better.
I don't mean to put the S2K down, its great fun to thrash and I can imagine on a racecourse its a truely thrilling car to drive as its very sharp but for everyday use I would prefer it if those horses were a little more accesable.
I'm sure if you buy the car you won't be dissapointed, I'm not dissapointed with it at all just curious as to whether the NSX is better.
Good Luck
