Default The Journey

Hey guys, new S owner here. I've had my eye on them for quite some time now, and finally bit the bullet on one. I'll start off with some background information to how I got to where I am now. I've always had a Honda since I was 17 (now 27). So far I have went through the following (in order):

91 Civic Si hatchback
95 Del Sol S
94 Del Sol Vtec
97 Prelude
99 Civic hatchback
99 Civic Si
91 CRX Si
99 Integra GSR
94 Integra LS
94 Del Sol Vtec
97 Civic hatchback
05 S2k

After looking around for awhile and keeping my eye open for a good deal I can across an 02 AP1 that I got the guy down to $7500. However, before I could go pick it up, he sold it. I kept an eye out and found an 05 silverstone with 99k miles for $12.5. I eventually got him down to $11.5 and after the banks did their work headed to pick it up this past weekend.

The car was located in Bossier City, La. I made the 8 hr drive from north AL on Sat. I get there and take possession and was smiling the entire way back to the hotel. It was chilly, but still took it out with the top down to go get dinner. After we came out and started to leave I noticed a roaring sound coming from the rear. I pulled over to find the drivers side rear tire was flat. I put some air in it at the gas station, but could hear it leaking out somewhere. I grabbed a can of fix a flat to put in it to hopefully hold me over till I could find a tire store in the morning. The fix a flat went in and I could hear the air loss go down significantly. We were only 8 miles form the hotel and the can says to drive 4 miles to allow the sealer to spread around.

You had to get back on the highway to get to the hotel and about 2 miles away I hear a LOUD roaring abruptly again. I pulled over to see the tire was completely flat again. So there I was on the side of the highway, jacking the S up, cars whizzing past my head at 70+mph, in the cold. I got the tire changed and on inspection I see a large 3" gash in the tread line. Apparently I had ran over something on the way to dinner.

The next morning I go out to check the tire size so I can start calling places. To my over whelming joy; the spare was now flat as well. This is on Sunday as well. Almost all the tire places were closed. I found a few that were open. Sears wanted $220 per tire and had to order them. Sams Club wanted $150 per tire and had to order them. Firestone had them for $119 and of course had to order them. The guy at Firestone recommended I try Pep Boys. Luckily he had one Hankook in stock in the 245/40 variety I needed for $158. After mounting/balance/fees it came to roughly $198 for the tire.

So after getting lunch and waiting the 1 1/2 wait for the tire I headed back to replace it. We get on the road and make the long trek home. The ride home went off without a hitch and now am the finally the proud owner of an S.
