Default just bought my car today....

So i am new to the site and a new s2000 owner. I went to a dealership in Clearwater Florida today and purchased a new grand prix white with red and black interior. I dont actually pick up the car until Friday, but I am stoked. I test drove one today and it kinda scared me because the gears seemed to want to grind a bit.... Is that just because its new? The car only has 15 miles on it.

My gears grind but let's not get started on that. I haven't heard too much about AP2's (2004-2007) having grinding problems, since Honda upgraded the tranny. I have a MY02 and it grinds ever once in a while. There's nothing wrong with mine though. Good luck, I love the color combo it's nice that they finally brought it back!

Congrats on the buy. Nice color scheme. I have an AP2 with only 18K on the odometer and my gear grind regularly. I am refering to regular city driving, not racing or spirited driving. I dont like it but I've accepted it.

When I first got my 06, it grinded a little but it's all gone now. I've had it for about 5 months.

Welcome to the site! I can't comment about the gears grinding, I don't have an AP2.

Hmm.. No gear grind here. Anyway, welcome iamthes... Good luck on the pick up. Make sure the dealer walks through the printed checklist with you.... See my FAQ thread at the top of the introduction forum; it points you to the new car checklist.

Congrats!

i wouldnt worry about the grind, you'll just have to get used to the clutch/shifting patterns. i came from an ap1, that never had a grind, but when i got in the 06, the feel of the clutch and shifting was completely different, so i had a couple grinds, especially 1st to 2nd. enjoy the car!!! AND BREAK IT IN PROPERLY!!!
